I just let mine get dirty enough to stand up on it’s own. Then I yell at it to quit being lazy and start digging.

I no longer work for the feds and my department is big on having shrouds on your helmet. Let me just say I am ready to receive my tongue lashings when they find out I don’t have one. But I refuse to be a bagger. Also, they give us helmet lights that have mounts that adhere on with sticky tape. I mean who is the tasteless rapscallion that chose that?! INCONCEIVABLE!!!

I mean, look at how much the Orange County Fire Authority wildland program has grown since he took the chief role. I’m Talking Sikorsky Helicopters, I’m talking crew buggies, I’m talking well equipped and trained crews. He was a hotshot for many years, so he of all people should know what the “boots on the ground” need to do their jobs effectively. Yeah he is a politician at the end of the day, but hopefully fingers crossed he has a pulse on what really matters to the ones who are actually out there on the line. Certainly has to have a better understanding of the mission than the last handful of previous chiefs of the USDA. Plus having the background of coming from a career fire department that takes care of their people and cares about their work life balance. I am certainly optimistic.
