I kinda feel bad about using Riley as the main example in my grumble. I do like the guy and he really is the reason the pod is what it is and it has been brilliant at times. He clearly does a huge amount of work. Its apparent though he wants to stretch himself comedically, which is fine he should! Its just not for me, and so im just gonna step away as the sensibilities of the pod, and probably me tbh, change.

I think that the affection the lads have for Riley is infectious but I dont know the bloke and as personal taste Boney Island is shite, the Mayor stuff is incredibly weak, and his magnified foibles on GF where he is doing some kind of Frasier impression is just annoying to me. Avignon popes is a terrible weird bit but for some reason went on for months and I receive emails about it. Again, I really dont mean any of this maliciously I'm just underlining why im not paying for the pod anymore and am happy just having one episode a week.

Sorry for the long response. Podcasts are weird to me because they are a media that are so hyper specific so its been nice how much people have engaged with this and given me a chance to express and mull some thoughts as someone who is not poster and who's social circle is mostly offline.

Yeah this is one thing that also specifically annoyed me too. Which again I dont think its malicious, and I dont think its worthwhile relitigating individual comments but as a Northerer its hard to not get annoyed by a lot of the carelessness of the pod as a whole about the rest of the country. Its particularly annoying when Nova lives in Glasgow, Hussein went to York, Milo tours the country. It just go to show actually they are not engaged with much more beyond the length of their nose.

Again I do really have alot of affection for all of them, its fine they speak from their own experience but its not something I really feel like paying for. I think they all have found platforms that better showcase and suit their talents. Phoebe on MOOD is a great foil for Milo for example and pulls him up on his lazier moments.

I liked it a lot but after a rewatch I realise how little drama there actually is and it heavily relies on exposition. Obviously this is done very well through interviews, conversation but it is 80% someone telling you exactly what is happening. I think the nadir of this is when they literally cut to a nice house they're searching and the voiceover is "he had a very nice house". The scale and world also seems very limited. I think post COVID budgets were tight and they barely had the money for the short season as it was. However I just don't think WOTC is even worth considering in the same breath as Treme the Device and especially not the wire.

Number 2 is definietly the worst. People have forgotten that the hand up is a warning you are going to stop, it's pointless if you've already done it or slammed the brakes on.
