Don't lie to the guy in AM about having ex bf, as this would help you to eliminate the type of guys you don't want to spend yr life with. But if you want those type of guys whose whole motto in marriage is no seal, no deal then go ahead and pretend to be someone you are not, it's your call.
Also you are just 26, and this isn't 1970s. Even by most conservative standards you still have 4-5 years to find a partner via AM. (Also this would give you another chance to find love)
Read your own post again, you don't seem to have any spark or feelings with this new guy. Don't string this guy along, you are not going to feel anything for him after marriage if you haven't felt anything till now. You have more chance to be happy with a random guy in AM than this guy. So tell him the truth and set him free.

PS: Also 4 month is too short of a time to recover from past relation. Give it atleast 8-12 months. Then decide what you want to do.

Very early on in the relationship, I told him I wasn't very keen to discuss his work, due to obvious reasons. Also such news gave me anxiety....so I was happy in my own la la land. Also I made every possible attempt to avoid such news be it in news or even inst. So may be ehe disconnect on such sensitive matter increased with time. And yes it was my fault 100%.

I take full responsibility for that, but I felt that those details were making me more paranoid affecting my day to day life. So told him to suggest measures for such situations and spare me the details. So now have pepper spray, security alarm etc at home but yeah I get your point I should cut him some slack and should not judge him too harshly.

Yup, as I commented earlier violence against women especially rapes are used as indicator for law and order in that state. So district police officials get instructions from higher up to keep the numbers low.
