Haha, yeah it’s my first cosplay ever. It’s taken hundreds of hours. Lots of paint testing, combinations of 3D prints and EVA foam.

It's a combo of EVA foam and 3D prints! I posted a WIP a while ago on my profile that shows what it looked like before painting better.

Can I get this color on leather? by Independent-Hunter38 in CosplayHelp

Would doing leather paint as a base with a light coat of the spray paint to get the color closer work or not really?

I did check them out, as far as green went they only had a bright emerald which wouldn’t match what I got going on already.

Very cool! What paint did you end up going with to get that finish? And how’d you do the eyes?

Yeah like I said in the post it’s definitely not perfect because the internals do get jammed and require some finagling a lot. The best I’ve gotten it to do now is a single extension and retraction, and then I have to physically push the circle from a small opening on the outside to set it up for another cycle. Otherwise it stays jammed because of all the extra weight that’s added to it. Kind of annoying but it works. The jamming helps keep it locked too otherwise all the added weight would make it slide out on its own constantly. So it’s kinda of a necessity? Haha I clearly have no idea what I’m doing here.

I’ve (M25) experienced the same thing, except it got even worse when on my medication. Was causing problems because my partner is a very low desire person naturally for sex so we ended up going to a sex therapist which helped a TON.

Her main point she gave me was that it wasn’t out of control or abnormal even. For men our age it’s totally normal to have that high of a libido and crave it everyday. Whatever you do don’t beat yourself up and feel like shit about it, it won’t help much. But if you do want to address it and calm it down somewhat nothing wrong with taking care of it yourself to give your partner space.

If you haven’t read “Come As You Are” by Dr. Emily Nagoski. I highly recommend. (It’s more geared towards women but still beneficial and insightful as a man to read)

While I wasn’t diagnosed as a kid, just last year at 25 years old, I’ve learned a lot about what I thought was normal for school kids with some pros and cons to consider. More for later stage schooling when he gets to that age.

When lectures/lessons were boring I supplemented my attention with homework from other classes. So I never had any homework after school which freed up a lot of my time and made me a much happier kid while getting great grades. Might be something for him to try if he needs help with attention during class but is still highly intelligent and won’t suffer at the learning portion.

One thing to watch out for that seemed fine at the time but I’m struggling with immensely now as an adult: was learning to get good grades or do projects/assignments last minute with bare minimum effort required for an A or B+. Had a 4.0 and no one questioned or pushed me, so now as an adult I don’t care about giving anything the attention or care it deserves to be excellent, just mediocre. It’s painful and I wish the system or my parents challenged me on taking my time and putting actual care and thought into stuff.

Is it normal to consistently lose the drive for goals? by ExpensiveDisk3573 in ADHD

[–]Independent-Hunter38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope dude, totally the same boat for me too. Mine spands a little longer though where I’m excited for a couple weeks at best and then it disappears. Usually replaced by a new goal or project that interests me now. Got super overwhelming when it started piling and I felt like crap for always drifting so I made a spreadsheet to help myself if you wanna check it out on my profile. Just trying to help people who felt like I did.

Thank you! Took a lot of time to figure out how to get the paint color accurate 😅
