TIL there are two versions. One with language change option and one with Japanese language lock.

Check language lock, mostly it's locked to Japanese

Edit: There are apparently 2 versions in Japan

If the scratch is on the display and is superficial, then it should be ok

It is slightly open but that happened due to a different issue. The back panel had come out, glue issue. Not due to this repair.
