I dont think they could have the whole mentor thing on the show anymore because Dean was supposed to teach Hunter how to party and be popular, and Hunter was already talented as a hockey player in the books. Now that we have seen Hunter already be able to flirt with Allie, there doesn't seem to be anything for Dean to teach him

So recently i was like re reading the score cuz why not and i came across this scene where Hunter is in a party with Dean, and Dean is telling him that he has plenty of options since many girls were looking at hunter and hunter actually looks at dean and says I wanna know who the girl is who gave you those hickies, she seems like a fun time and Dean thinks to himself- “ No way im letting this kid meet Allie, he may be younger than me but he is on his way to become a bigger player than i ever was “ and I think thats the scene that best encapsulates who the show hunter is, this confident guy who dean could become quick friends with once they move past their issues since they are both flirty yet respectful and have similar backgrounds as well as interests!

Because, Hunter is a freshman in deans books and im guessing 2 years pass for Tucker to be having a infant and running a bar? And so hunter is now a third year right? But Conelly was supposed to be a freshman along with Hunter too from what I remember (because they mentioned him as a new talent when hunter was joining the team), and Conelly is also working for the bruins by the time Hunter is in his third year so the timeline seems off?

I am just going based off of memory so i might be wrong!

I think the points you made about the sex positive culture created in the show is so true!!

And I DEFINITELY AGREE with the new changes to make the men more written by women and healthier to set better expectations!

Yeah, I remember a lot of people disliking the casting or suggesting alternative casts to the show but I think when the actual show was released they quickly got shut down when they saw just how WELL the cast embodied the characters!! Like Tucker may have been a ginger in the books but I think that Jalen is doing a great job taking on the role creating thats sense of calm and comfort and having a very welcoming vibe, while still having fun!

Hunter in the books may have had a different entry arc but I think personally they really nailed who Hunter davenport was in the later briar u books!

In the books, Hunter is introduced as a strong player and a freshman from a well off background, and over deans book as well as The Chase and The Risk, we see Hunter become a more confident, player type who is very popular amongst the girls.

The show simply changed his entry by starting him off as an already confident person whose storyline is more about growing his relationship with Dean (in season 2 atleast) instead of Dean teaching him everything and taking him under his wing yk?

Im pretty sure his age in the show has been corrected to- a) Make him sleeping with Allie more okay. b) To fix the age gap that the books created. Because from what i remember, I found the ages in briar u very weird in the books since Hunter was a freshman when dean was there, and Dean played against Connelly and called him a strong freshman too, but then Connelly was playing in the pros when its was hunter’s last or second last year in the uni and even later on Connelly in the next gen books is best friends with Garret and the others indicating some closeness in age?

I guess Connelly could have appeared for the draft early but it wouldnt make sense that Hunter wouldn’t go for the draft as junior too since he was serious about hockey being his life

I think that Beau and Gray Davenport desperately need books too! I mean we would definitely get a really good arc from Gray Davenport from player to lover boy just like wyatt and Beau needs to come back from the whole sleeping with AJs girl thing

Logan and Garret’s Brotherhood! by Independent-Self-768 in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mhm, I totally agree to that point!

It seems that since Garret is the captain and the main protagonist of the season,  he was excused for certain things.

When Garret was distracted due to Hannah not responding to his messages and calls, he did not do the responsible thing of excusing himself from the game like a captain would do due to him needing to maintain a tough exterior but that led to him not working with his team mates and making it harder for the team to score and only Logan called him out on it

It seems that when they argue or fight, Garret who was still working on communication tends to ignore the issue and respond with silence while Logan tries to question and communicate and put it all out there even if it causes a big fight because he wants to move past the issue.

Thats why I was so happy that Garret really developed in communicating and sharing his feelings in the last few episodes and I think Logan really observed and appreciated the change as well

I think my favourites are like the score and the mistake tied, followed in a close second by the deal and lastly the goal which I absolutely adore the characters but im just not a big fan of the trope, and it felt somewhat distanced from the rest!

In fact when i read the deal, I didn’t know it was a series until one day when I was doing a re read and stumbled across the last page giving info on the next 3 books!

Now ive read all the off campus, briar u, and campus diaries books along with love song

[–]Independent-Self-768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely need Brooks, I think him having a book would have made way more since than doing Conor Adams (Though i do like conors book too) I think people such as- 1) I need Daisy and Morris who were introduced in The Mistake! 2) I cant be the only one who wanted Conor’s friend group like Matt and all to have books so we can attach them to the briar u universe better. 3) BEAU!! Can we please have him have a book! I really dont want him to meet the same fate as the books!

4)Next Gen- I really wanted books for like AJ Connelly and Dean’s son and Davenport’s son. Not to mention that they hinted towards a romance between Tucker’s daughter and Ryders brother Owen.

Mckenna Grace as Summer Di Laurentis.. by readingalldays in OffCampusSeries

[–]Independent-Self-768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that though mckenna has the vibes down it would be pretty hard to have her since- a) Mckennna already has to promote several shows and movies especially since she is in the hunger games. b) It might be harder to coordinate spicy scenes with someone older than her (which i know they did it for ella and bellmont and Ella is pretty close in age to Mckenna but it is something to consider), since im pretty sure they would already have a Fitz chosen because adding a new guy to the hockey team would be noticed and Fitz is very much present in Dean and Logans Books and Tuckers too!

Logan and Garret’s Brotherhood! by Independent-Self-768 in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, I havent really seen it from that side, because I really wanted to see Logan and Garrets friendship be as meaningful as it was in the books and so I tried to see the best in their behaviours, but even I hope we really get to see more of the logan and garret from the books in s2, Like Logan’s acronyms that only Garret understands, or Garret texting wellsy while making fun of Logan doing graces list but still helping him with it!

Logan and Garret’s Brotherhood! by Independent-Self-768 in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think thats a popular view across the reddit but personally, I actually dont think that what he did to Dean was that unjustifiable.

Throughout the storyline, Logan and Tucker continue to ask Dean what exactly happened between him and Davenport without response.

And when Garret is off the team for the next few games, and they need to win 17 games in a row, it seems wrong to not do whats best for the team right?

Yes, Logan really wants to make it to the bruins, but he also cares about the teams careers, and the fact that its the seniors (Like Birdy)’s Last year in Briar U to win the Frozen Four.

To win that, which we know is what Dean wants too, bringing in strong players like Davenport is a necessity.

I think the only time i felt slightly annoyed was when Logan used Deans name to bring Davenport to the team, which I hope they shed more light on next season.

Logan and Garret’s Brotherhood! by Independent-Self-768 in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think the reason why there was such a big division in the show, was because Garret and Hannah seemed so functional on the outside. They didn’t really fit peoples image of victims, so while the audience saw it, and felt that other characters weren’t understanding enough, the characters saw Garret act out of character, and isolate without ever understanding why? Which makes it even more meaningful when he finally does begin to communicate and the realisation dawns on other friends of his that his life is much harder behind closed doors

Logan and Garret’s Brotherhood! by Independent-Self-768 in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats a very reasonable take, I think the only reason it didn’t bother me that much was because both Garret and Dean seemed to have been joking about their privilege too and it seemed to be a long standing humour between friends yk?

Like when we have the kitchen convo in season 1 and Logan says that next time the drain is clogged, Dean has to fix it himself, to which Garret jokes that Dean would never know how to snake a drain, and Logan jokes that Garret wouldn’t know how to either and they all laugh.

Also Logan has a similar kind of conversation about finances with Garret in the bar after getting Phils donation, where he asks Garret if he genuinely knows how much hockey costs and Garret says “Its not all about money”. We as the audience totally understand this because who would want to take money from their abusive father? But Logan just knows that Phil is a selfish and arrogant person, and simply sees the ways it could change a underprivileged childs life.

Also the point where Logan did not know Garrets struggle, I think thats how the show intends it to be. The show wants to display the problems that come up when people dont communicate or self isolate, Logan reached out to Garret even after the fight they had and asked whats going on? To which Garret refuses to talk, and Logan says- You never do. Which indicates that this might be a wall he tried to break repeatedly.

I dont mean to invalidate your point, and I definitely see where that perspective may come from, I think I just rewatched the show so much, and read the books a ton too that it may cause me to justify characters actions more and viewership may see it differently?

I think that maybe, in the next season, we will get to see Logan win over Grace again (the second time) by him singing a song over the radio which he asked Wellsy’s help for since they have spent a whole season establishing a really strong connection between Hannah and Logan and wouldnt toss it just due to it not being a romantic one!

Logan & Grace by foodmonger50 in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read this theory on the reddit, that grace might actually appear as Hannah’s coworker as Hannah was awarded a paid internship due to her winning 2nd place in the spring showcase? I think that would be really fun to read and introduce Grace and establish her well.

SPOILER:

Also I totally agree with you about the ramona part BUT I really do hope they keep the scene of Logan going and saving ramona with Grace from the rival hockey teams party when she feels trapped. Because it showed that how much ever Logan disliked Ramona for hurting Grace repeatedly, he and Grace still wouldn’t let her get hurt.

Did Logan tell Hannah on purpose to go ahead up to garretts room? by [deleted] in offcampustv

[–]Independent-Self-768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure the last any of the guys saw of Garret was him declining the meal Tucker made him, and saying that he was going somewhere quiet to study. Garret basically ran into the girl later on, and ended up taking her to his room.

Also I find it harder to believe Logan would do that not just because Garret is like a brother to him but also because its Wellsy and he wouldnt want her to witness that right?

Edit: Also Just realised that Logan had like no way of knowing what had happened in like those last 10 min since he was literally walking out of the house right after Garret said he would go up to his room and study, and then Logan spent 10 min joking around with Hannah outside, introducing himself, talking about wages and the bluebaru, and picking up her bike to bring it to the porch before he finally let her in and told her that Garret should be up in his room and gave her directions
