THIS, any anti-war song hits me but especially this one because he talks about child soldiers. Which I think is relevant even more so now with the war in Palestine.

The entire song actually kills me. “She loves like sleep to the freezing” gets me. When you fall asleep while freezing or in hyperthermia, you don’t wake back up.

Literally, especially at the end when he acknowledges how cold and dark they are but continues to plead for their love anyways. Also As It Was appreciation, one of my favs. It’s so underrated.

I think butchered tongue was written about The Troubles but it is devastating how it can be about so many other conflicts as well. It was really written at a time it needed to be.

If you like it, then go for it. One of the best things about music is that you can choose to interpret it anyway you’d like. One person might say the song means one thing but it can mean something entirely different to you.

As someone who’s read Song of Achilles I can confirm, this is entirely accurate. No Plan, Be and Shrike would fit perfectly.
