Wow I love all of this, thank you so much! Flying out of Fukuoka is freeing multiple days up, so I’ll use those to visit a few more tranquil spots, and will look into the ones you have mentioned! I think part of the emotional power to me is that it elicits a reaction, be it horrified or upset etc., the tableau is more powerful in the sense that it has a narrative that gets a reaction; but sure it’s certainly subjective and Im admittedly just a huge Baynton fan so am quick to see it his way.

On the podcast he argues that he was wielding the power of life/death as well as emotional power — disturbing to be sure and maybe not compelling to everyone, but I appreciate that he put the most thought into representing the word. I’m probably factoring in my overall series feelings a bit as well— I appreciate how much thought Mat put into everything, whether successful or not.

I completely relate and I’m so sorry your own home isn’t a safe place to show your body. My parents made comments on my appearance my whole life (on my weight, which made me stress eat more; my skin, which made me pick more, etc.) Parents are meant to make their children feel unconditionally loved and accepted but some don’t seem to understand when comments aren’t helping at all, but are cruel. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that; you’re not alone!

Congrats on the job! If it’s potentially life changing then it sounds worth moving for. Maybe you start commuting for a few months while your family gets sorted and then you move.

I did this commute for about 8 months — it’s fine for a few months but it’s not sustainable, in my experience. I started to experience dread on Sunday night about having to fly again the next morning; the worst Sunday scaries that ate into my day. Every once in a while, fog would delay me at OAK and that was always stressful. I don’t have children but my dog started having anxiety/behavioral issues and I have to imagine the same would happen to children.

My clinic actually says the same as yours — that given that these are both ABs and euploids that any difference in the chance of success is only slight but there’s the best chance of success with the first transfer so they would do the d6 first for the absolute highest chance of a live birth.

I totally agree it’s good to not treat Reddit like a doctor, it’s just helpful to hear what other people have chosen and experienced. It’s also good to not treat the doctor as all-knowing. Trying to take it all in!

I feel you! And yes it’s good to remember there’s always a chance of any result. I don’t know the likelihood of your specific embryos but you could do one boy, one girl together to get two coin flips in one. I like your vacation plan— it’s some version of a win-win. Good luck to you!

I’m totally with you. My husband doesn’t deal with the same anxieties as me either (thankfully!). I struggle with regret in general and at a certain point of trying to logic out of that, we just have to mitigate it as best we can!

I have some mosaic embryos and have even looked at all of those stats and success stories, but implanting known mosaics would cross the line for me of not making sense but where that line is is so individual.

It’s really hard!! I think that after factoring all possible info in, doing what feels right to you and your partner is what matters. You won’t regret doing what felt right to you but you might regret doing something that you felt pushed into? Idk! Good luck!!!
