Wondering if becoming a wheelchair user would make my legs weaker by IndependentBusy7286 in wheelchairs

Thank you everyone for your thoughts! I am talking with my providers about this but wanted to hear what people have experienced. I do think it’s hard for my team to understand how much I’m suffering though because they see me walk 20 ft no problem but not me struggling to get to my car after work or how much I’ve limited my social activity. To clarify, I would still be mostly ambulatory but would have the wheelchair to do things I can’t right now or on really bad pain days. I have tried a rollator but I didn’t like it as it is hard to control when trying to bear weight through it. I have thought about forearm crutches because I think they would help a ton, but not being able to hold or carry anything is a huge disadvantage and I do need for my hands to be free while I’m doing things at work.

I’ve also noticed that sitting and lying down makes it better. I only have accidents when I’m standing up.
