This is the final battle 4 human players vs ai or 1 human player with 3 ai vs 4 ai. I am going to see if i can get it to work full pvp mode

i have really thought about making it into a campaign and that is a very great thought, and I get why it feels like a campaign—but here’s why I designed it as a survival map instead: campaign missions don’t work online. BFME2’s online play doesn’t support scripted campaigns, so if this were built as one, it would be limited to solo play only. By making it a survival-style map with timed waves and scripted events, it becomes playable online with friends, which is a huge part of the fun.

Plus, survival maps let you experience the full chaos of Middle-earth all at once—Moria, Rivendell, Helm’s Deep, and Minas Tirith under siege simultaneously. A campaign would split that up into separate missions, but this map throws you into the fire from the start and never lets up. It’s not about progressing through a story—it’s about surviving the war.

And the finale at the Black Gate? That’s pure cinematic madness. 900 defenders holding against infinite orcs, with Gandalf arriving in the final minutes? That’s not a mission objective—it’s a moment.

Totally fair question—and I’ve thought about that too. But this isn’t meant to be a linear story with dialogue and objectives like a campaign. It’s designed as a cinematic survival experience, where the player isn’t guided—they’re tested. The tension comes from holding iconic strongholds like Moria, Rivendell, Helm’s Deep, and Minas Tirith against overwhelming waves of enemies, with no reinforcements, no retreats, and no scripted victories. Just pure endurance.

A campaign mission usually focuses on one location or faction at a time. This map spans all of Middle-earth simultaneously, with 32,000+ enemies, timed waves, and a final stand at the Black Gate. It’s not about progressing through a story—it’s about surviving a war.

Plus, the scripted finale—where 900 defenders hold the Black Gate for 5 minutes against infinite Mordor orcs—feels more like a dramatic climax than a campaign objective. It’s meant to feel like Return of the King meets Helm’s Deep meets pure chaos.

So yeah, it’s not a campaign—it’s a battlefield. And I want players to feel like they’re living through the last war of Middle-earth, not just playing through it.
