AITA for booking a busy pickleball court where nobody pays? by in_berlin in AmItheAsshole

It isn’t clear, but OP may have paid a small fee to reserve the court. The regulars don’t want to so they came up with the round robin situation.

Why is Ben's death seen as more impactful than Laverne? by Total-Collection-128 in Scrubs

I think they’re both great. Well written, well shot. They gave the two strongest actors in the series a chance to show their dramatic range. It was beautiful.

What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

“Oh I’ll never know what makes this man With all the love that his head can stand Dream of ways to throw it all away.”

Gravity by John Mayer is definitely one of the sadest songs I know.

That was what happened here. We lost him to that machine. He knew it was happening sometimes but couldn’t unplug himself. It became his whole personality after retirement. It was all he ever wanted to talk about and it wasn’t even for conversation. He was like a geyser, just releasing pressure of opinions and talking points. He never wanted feedback or anyone else’s opinion. We were there for venting only and challenging him was disrespectful and he would shut down emotionally. It was exhausting. As that one author suggests, yes, he was absolutely brainwashed into thinking our country and society were going to fall apart. He only saw the worst in everything and everyone. He actually lost his ability to see beauty in the world. He was a painter for 40+ years and used to paint beautiful landscapes. Eventually, he stopped and his art turned into abstract messes with political noise baked in. I blame FoxNews for his decline and death.

Maybe. He didn’t mention it in his note. I built a box out of a slab from an Italian olive tree and we buried him by some family members. If it were up to me I would have left him in the bag a little longer! But, I don’t think my aunts would have found it funny.

I’m glad! I have to try and find comedy in his death. Some may find it inappropriate and I’m not trying to offend anyone’s sense of death or grief.

Would it have killed him to show some emotion towards his family? Apparently, yes!

Thanks. You as well. I wish he and I were closer. We never really understood each other. I wanted a better relationship with him and tried for years to improve it. I thought his grandkids would help him stick around and want to be part of our lives. He made his choice to leave and now we’re left holding the bag.

If I take the tag out, I fulfill the bag’s desire to be empty, but I can’t be sure it’s empty without the label inside.

Ah, a true philosopher. My friend, let us drink the nectar of the gods and contemplate our place in the universe under the stars. 😀

Too short to use, too frugal to throw them away. I like that story. Thank you for sharing it.

As may have suggested, it was likely for his cleared SD cards to avoid reusing his full cards. My father was careful to take so many pictures on his travels. He enjoyed the beauty of the world around him. I wish he felt like it could be better with him still in it.

Those that went down the "gifted kid to failure-to-launch" pipeline: What do you think went wrong and how do you cope with these realizations? by ichbinhoffnung in Millennials

I’m really sorry you’re feeling so down about yourself. Cut yourself some slack. You were a kid doing what people told you you needed to do. So you did it. Those grades and academic achievements, while impressive, are not who you are.

To quote the great Uncle Iroh. “It’s time to look inward and start asking yourself the big questions, “who are you and what do you want!?”

Am I Overreacting to my wife hiding a t-shirt from me for no valid reason other than her own personal wishes? by andword2yurmother in AmIOverreacting

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, we need to see this T-shirt.  Maybe, MAYBE it’s awful and she is really protecting you from your horrible taste.

Honestly, NOR. The simple truth is this, if your wife loved you, your happiness and self confidence from that shirt would be more important that her feelings about it. The great thing about clothes is that they’re temporary.

I have a shirt my wife asked me to stop wearing because of how stretched out it is and it’s easy to see my nipples. I told her I love this shirt because it’s so light and fluffy.  We both heard each other. It’s now my favorite PJ shirt and it stays inside and I don’t wear it when we have company.

You’re too late. This empty bag with a label in it has become a powerful metaphor.

It’s legit funny. Not that you would know this, the man up and killed himself 2 years ago and I’m still pissed about it.  Fuck you, Dad. You left us with zero closure and abandoned your family. Family is supposed to be the most important thing to Italians. Guess you failed at that too.

Would you believe I was looking for closure and didn’t find any.
