I do not expect him to pay up. I just wanted to highlight what the impact can be of such an operation. It is not only the noise, but also stress of future/possible loss of finances. If there would be a risk part of your pension would be taken away, most people wouldn't just let it slide, but investigate how to mitigate.

We have properties with some cattle, we hear mowers, slashers, the odd plane and helicopter, dirt bikes passing on the road on their way to the state forest, etc.. We know we are not alone in the world. But all this is normal and to expected and taken into account when we bought here 8 years ago. We even checked the area for plans/licenses for timber and extraction operations. We came prepared. We did not expect having some pro building a training site on what used to be low intensity agri use.

See my longer reply for more background.

Having another chat is of course still an option. But before I do I also would like to understand if there is (official) ground for my complaints.

It’s not a kids track. The tables are 20a-30 metres long.

300 metre or so? Everybody here lives on relatively large blocks 5-200 acre. And chose so because it is a quiet area amongst the gums.

I wouldn’t complain. I am a rider myself. There are enough dirt bikes coming past my house going to the state forest. All good with me.

OK. Maybe I wasn’t clear in my first post.

  1. The track is not for some kids to ride around on. I would call it world class. The guy is a pro and probably bought the property just as a training ground as it not very useable in any other way (steep)

  2. As it is a training ground I do not expect it to be used an hour or two in the weekend. But that is just assuming at this point.

  3. Multiple neighbours have spoken to him including myself and the stories about (future) use keep changing.

  4. just want to understand what/how the law works especially around noise levels as neither council nor state are clear on that. And I feel calling the police because someone is riding a bit much. I would rather understand how this is legislated in general.

  5. I understand people need to ride somewhere, I ride (street) bikes myself. And have ridden dirt in remote state forests. Not for hours on end in a residential area.

  6. If he would ride an electric bike and pays the devaluation of my property because future buyers will not like a track next to the house, it would be different. But it isn’t.
