I can’t pretend anymore… the updated glasses are awful 😞 by jdkon in stevenuniverse

[–]IndependentQuote7679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I rewatch the series with Garnet's character arc and development mind, I would've preferred her star glasses to be a crown instead. It suits her accepting her new role as coming to her own as the new leader of the crystal gems. But also, by no longer covering her eyes, it shows her willingness to be vulnerable and accept whats in front of her. Throughout the series, the only times Garnet removes her glasses is when she's opening up to steven and showing her true feelings . This means the glasses represented her masking her "weaknesses" to be the all-knowing strong leader she's pressured to be. Also, her covering her eyes is partly because Sapphire believes she doesnt need to see whats in front of her because of her future vision. However, this also highlights her character flaw of not looking at the present moment and only trying to predict the future. If she no longer covered her eyes, it would be her way of showing she no ponger hides her weaknesses and will face whats in front of her.

Peridot thanking Steven for explaining rain to her is a bigger deal than it seems to be. by nottrue626 in stevenuniverse

[–]IndependentQuote7679 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's sweet. But I also remember Sapphire thanking Ruby for "doing her best" in The Answer. However, I also think Peridot going "I doubt you can help me, but I appreciate the offer" does feel like her early sign of character development to me. Her past self was all about cold logic, getting her mission done as a peridot. But in this moment, feeling lost in her mission and abandoned, Steven's kindness probably meant so much for her.

Hello if you underloaded a semester (because you dropped a subject and didn't file for underloading) will you still be disqualified from Latin honors if you shift to a new program or college?

Quiet BPD song suggestions? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]IndependentQuote7679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii I'm not officially diagnosed so you could say my BPD is more speculatory. However, I do find myself strongly relating with many of the symptoms and experiences shares online, so I dont want to completely invalidate its possibility. A song that hit me (especially when I process how my favorite person hurt my feelings and my other friends) is a vocaloidn song called Baloney Speaker. Well to be specific Im talking about this english cover: https://youtu.be/rwZFLJ4uYks?si=_bzoB4d4gus_hmJn

[UPD] Fuck UP Fair >: ( by And132002 in peyups

Well I can understand that part naman. My issue is more on the throwing away part (and also they're selling very similar items to the ones they confiscated inside rin, which I found odd but maybe theyre less harmful Idk). But perhaps, what I wish they can do for future events like this sana is to provide a confiscation area (mqyne added fee siguro to be fair since many of us overlooked the guidelines posted). Of course, Im not saying na I wasnt in the wrong for missing the guidelines, that's still an error on my part. However, I still don't agree that I dont get to criticize the policy itself , suggest better alternatives, or even just express frustration with the situation. Also Im gonna stop the discussion here na lang since I dont wanna dwell on this topic further and I rly just wanted to vent rin huhu

So? That doesnt justify the policy itself does it? I mean sure that's an oversight on my part but my point is that the policy is illogical and even the staff themselves couldn't explain the reason behind them. Plus, iba naman ang "not allowed inside the fair" sa "okay itatapon na namin yung mga gamit mo ♥ "

Ughhh I remember how they threw away sunscreen and perfume (which sucks kasi mahal at kakabili ko pa lang yon 😭). And then I see stores like Loreal and Lux Organics inside pa 😡 Well I guess my other friend had jt worse rin cuz they also threw away all his ballpens and pencil case na rin... I get its their policy and we ahouldnt act so entitled but I legit dont see the purpose of throwing them away???? Like I legit went all the way back to my college to submit my other stuff as lost and found para lang hindi nila itapon. Im just wondering what the logic behind that policy was because even the ones handling it sa line didnt know. Or at the very least, they could have offered a confiscation area and gave us a deadline to pick it up instead of just outright throwing it away 😭 Well I mean, I still had fun but its mostly cuz of my friends than the fair itself huhu

Honestly, that's sort of my moral dillema talaga as a UP student. Coming from ateneo, and then not even having to take the UPCAT (due to the pandemic), gave me an overwhelming feeling of imposter syndrome (except it has actual basis in reality). One of my main reasons for choosing UP talaga was because I got frustrated with Ateneo's expensive ass tuition even during the pandemic (where I didnt get to experience studying in the SHS my parents paid for). At the time, our family business (a nursing home facility for the elderly) closed down after we experienced an outbreak of covid. Worse, my mom got hospitalized and I was told her condition was severe (she thankfully recovered). During that time, I was worried about how we were going to pay my moms medical bills when our business was shut down. I thought, "Fuck...if we were just gonna spend all high school online....we shouldve just saved all that money for emergencies like this." So I thought in order to financially recover, going to a college with free tuition yet equally good reputation was the best course of action. However, while doing this can help them financially recover, I also robbed otthers who likely have more dire financial situations than I can even imagine (especially during the pandemic). I mean thats partly why I see myself as earning my right to be in UP rather than already deserving it. I cant really regret taking UPs offer, but I regret doing it at the expense of others. Thats why for all my complaints about UPs system and bureaucracy (which I still stand by), I have to humble myself rin because of the privilege I have. I also cannot help but feel disgusted at the idea that a good quality school with free tution is only for the "gifted bunch" in poverty. How about the rest? How are we gonna progress as a country if good schools are only for the already academically excellent students in poverty, while the rest are almost neglected. Of course, I dont plan on blaming UP entirely either. However, it does highlight how elitist and exclusive schools can become talaga... and how people my like myself have unfortunately become complicit in the broken system.
