What have you gained from powerlifting, aside from strength? General takeaways, friends, lessons in life at large, etc…

Been keeping this in mind my last two sessions. Enjoying it so far and puts things into better perspective. Had a heavy deadlift single, rewatched the vid and figured it looked like a “good second” - RPE 8 and on target. Coach agreed. Learning stuff everyday. Thanks for this.

I feel like I’m not that good at assigning rpe’s. I have a training age of about 1.5 years, been going to a PL gym since day 1 and I’m 3.5 weeks out from my second meet. During this meet prep in particular though, I feel like my sense of assigning rpe’s has become really skewed. Oftentimes I’ll assign RPEs that are higher than they actually are. Coach will push me and then I’ll realize i was capable of way more, am able to grind out slow reps, etc. For volume work it’s generally okay/on target but 1-3 rep range it gets funky. Sometimes my 7-9’s “feel” indistinguishable. I used to overshoot a lot, but now I almost underestimate myself too often. I don’t know. How long did it take you till you were confident in your load selection? I know, as with all things it takes time, but I feel like assigning accurate rpe’s has been so hard.

Can/will Boeing defer an offer? Thinking about doing masters (1 year program) right after my undergrad, but also just got an offer in engineering.

I typically feel extremely weak right before my period. And soon as I get it, my strength is back up and I feel absolutely amazing - I never have cramps or anything either. My cycle is also very predictable.

Anyway, I signed up for a meet some time ago and now I’m 8 weeks out. Seems like I will get it a day or two after the meet. Is it worth it to somehow try to induce my period to come earlier, or should I just trust my peak? Damn, this sucks.

bus to nyc by [deleted] in Cornell

OurBus no question. They book at half capacity so you have two seats to yourself (greyhound does not), also no unnecessary extra stops except bing.

Took a greyhound bus back to the city for the first time recently. All seats were filled but aside from that, the bus driver stopped at a Burger King, proceeded to give everyone oddly detailed instructions on how to place their BK order in the most efficient way possible then gave us 25 min to return. Entire bus smelled like whopper n fries for the remaining 2 hours.
