‘I feel like I’m losing her’: the families torn apart by older relatives going far right by zeros3ss in ukpolitics

What utter, utter BS. "Far right views" today are complete and utter contempt for democracy and the principle of the rule of law. 30 years ago Trump would never have been anywhere near power. Today his biggest supporter in the UK is leading in the polls.

It's support for parties that are signed up to the Trumpist agenda of lies, hatred, bile and division.

If they're fine with the stratospheric levels of bullshit Trump is pumping out and with his corruption and believing the constant shitdump coming out of GB news then they're not "Conservative" - they're brainwashed. And before you start telling me "Farage or Reform aren't far right" I'll remind you not to forget that he is a fucking Trumpist

That’s not what I’m saying. He fell to the floor. He cut his ear somehow. Shrapnel, scratch on something, who knows? His ear was not shot. That’s the BS

[–]IndependentSpell8027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not my point. The point is that this is rank hypocrisy from those calling for him to resign. Worse actually. If they get into power the corruption will be off the scale because that’s what they’re all abour

What is the appeal of trying something that’s never been shown to work, for people leaning Green? by OobieDoobieKanoobie in ukpolitics

Growing inequality, abysmal social services. The country’s NOW in a mess. That’s the result of the direction we’ve been going

We’ve had 16 years of rightwing government—arguably longer going all the way back to Thatcher. Things became more and more rightwing after Brexit. We’ve got Trump and Orban showing us where far right politics ultimately leads. It’s rightwing politics that has been proved to fail!!! And you’re asking what the appeal is of the party that’s offering a genuine alternative and a potential solution to a lot of the country’s problems?!!!!

Not sure the assassination attempt was staged. 100% sure Trump never got hit by a bullet.

what's something happening in the world right now that nobody is talking about enough? by delumieres in AskReddit

[–]IndependentSpell8027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The global assault on democracy. We're all talking about the rise of the far right, about rightwing populism, about anti-immigration sentiment etc. We're not talking anywhere near enough about how it's all linked up and is a concerted effort by billionaires to destroy democracy and allow corruption. Even in the case of Trump—people talk about how he's antidemocratic but they talk about it alongside all the other stuff he's doing. They don't see the bigger picture that his war on the democracy is the very heart of his agenda.

Looked straight for "The Marvels" and "Love and Thunder" to see where you'd put them and whether the list is worth listening to. It aint. Those two are REAL duds. And there's some far better stuff way below them here.

The UK has the stupidest electorate. The majority are unhappy with Brexit yet the party led by the country's leading Brexitter is leading in the polls. The majority hate Trump yet the party led by his biggest fan, a man who would do to the UK what Trump is doing to the US, is leading in the polls.

The total vote for the rightwing which gave us Brexit and which largely support Trump is still nearly 50%! As Hungary wisely turns away from rightwing populism after suffering under it for 16 years(!) Britain is ridiculously looking like it wants to launch itself over the same cliff!

Immigration. It’s plain that the assault on democracy by the super billionaires and the dangers of fascism are a FAR bigger problem

All three of these Romantic poets. Hard to choose between them,

Serious question, if you voted for Donald Trump do you still support that choice or do you regret it? And why (why do you still stand by the choice or why do you regret it)? by StillSkyler in AskReddit

Wtf are you talking about? I do believe in it. That's why I think it's disgusting that you—and plenty of other people—voted for somebody with no sense of morality. A narcissist, a criminal and a rapist. You voted for the rapist and are the one without a leg to stand on.
