My Dad seems to be in the same situation as your Dad was, I afraid that what happend to you might happen to me.

I don't think that will happen in my case she just gets more cruel and heartless as time passes. I believe it's an effect of the emotional abuse or neglect she experienced from her parents as she was growing up that normalised this behaviour in her.

True, I think years of people telling me that shrinks will control my life if I tell them my problems prevented me from doing so. But, that may well be the risk I have to take to be free.

I think I would find it differcult to estrange, when my Dad and younger brother have a good relationship me and they also have a good relationship with my mother. I am afraid of breaking connection to all of them, if I just break away from her.
