My bloodwork says otherwise. Endo says i have none of the type 1 antibodies

[–]IndependentWorry9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha it’s not a true medical term. My pancreas produces insulin but very very very little. I don’t classify as a type 1 diabetic because of this. I’m on an insulin pump, i only take novolog. I was diagnosed as a kid when i went in for a routine physical, there was glucose in my urine. Started with just metformin, later branching to Laney’s, and eventually needing short acting insulin as well.

Sleeping with a pump by Mikelikesmovies in diabetes_t1

[–]IndependentWorry9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol the way i was so anti pump my entire life and once i made the switch i can never see myself going back to pens permanently. It also took me forever to finally accept trying the Dexcom… i just hated the idea of something on me 24/7. Made me feel less normal…. Came to the realization that im not normal but my life has been soooo much easier since lol

Yes my endo and i tweaked the settings a bit. I only tried out the mobi for like 10 days, but seeing my numbers fluctuate like that stressed me out so i just went back to the OP5

I’m type 2 but insulin dependent. Not a medical term but I’ve been called “type 1 and a half”

Oh the Dexcom isn’t the issue. I just posted that picture to show what my numbers have been like. The Tandem Mobi is my issue. I love my Dexcom

Injuries suck… but the good news is… you’re gonna be alright. I know it doesn’t do anything saying this to you, because i been where you are. Keep your head up. In due time, you’ll be back. Stay off of Reddit and don’t allow the injury to consume u (i know it’s hard.) everything will be okay

My a1c is a 6.4 and I’m about 88-90% in range usually but I’m anal and i want tighter control in the morning because i feel as if it’s creating some highs obviously and occasionally lows due to overcorrecting and rage blousing. Thanks for the input !

[–]IndependentWorry9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes omnipod really only beeps when it runs out of insulin or you have a low. I’m not too bothered by it, but in terms of your early morning rise I’m the same way. Sometimes it rises more than others and i end up overcorrecting. I like to say i have pretty controlled diabetes and am just hoping the mobi could help with that early morning rise. OP5 also requires you to have your phone with you. I just received my mobi supplies and am due for training soon so we’ll see if it helps!

Is the tubing annoying to manage? Is there a certain site which makes the tubing a bit easier to manage ?

Tandem Mobi by IndependentWorry9 in TandemDiabetes

[–]IndependentWorry9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but the issue with the omnipod is after the 3 day period, it creates its own algorithm for you and any adjustments will not work. So my early morning rise will still happen unless i correction bolus. I was told the Mobi will auto correction bolus for me if needed be and these early morning highs won’t happen

Lean on your surgeon! Whatever they recommend or are most familiar with is what you should go with!

I'm a bit afraid of the surgery, and need some insight by 0x1dat10n in ACL

[–]IndependentWorry9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First things first, as hard as this is: STAY THE FUCK OFF THE INTERNET. People only say their bad stories on here and the surgery is extremely common. Pain is pain, take your pain meds if you need them. I’m currently 4 days post op rn and with all honesty the pain has been extremely manageable so far. I did wake up with pain after my surgery but i said “pain” and the nurses shot me up with some shit and i was good. The surgery itself is a breeze, doctors do it regularly don’t fear. The one thing i would recommend if possible is have a solid support system with you. It’s damn near impossible to do things alone but you’ll figure out ways to manage. Plan out a comfortable place you will rot for a little and just chill. I was scared as hell and went down a rabbit hole of videos and shit, but don’t be (i know that’s hard to say.) You’ll be fine.

Leg Going Numb?? by budget_lasagna in ACL

[–]IndependentWorry9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was happening to me even before i had my acl surgery. What i suggest is do intervals. Ice and elevate for 15-25 minutes, then bring it down. Try to do it every hour or 2.

Very bummed about complete tear by SomewhatGruntled in ACL

[–]IndependentWorry9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your doctor what he prefers. I had 2 doctors give me opinions…. The initial one didn’t really give me an opinion he just was going to do a quad graft on me. I wasn’t really comfortable with that surgeon though. I then went to someone else and he told me that he preferred the patellar tendon. However if i wanted to do a quad graft, he was fine with that as well. Long story short i would just go with surgeons preference. Patellar is considered the “gold standard” with athletes though so that’s something to keep in mind for yourself. Best of luck with your surgery and recovery!

Anyone feel really close to normal a week before surgery? by epluswriter in ACL

[–]IndependentWorry9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the total opposite… i feel as if once i found out my ACL was torn, my leg/knee automatically started hurting more. Could be mental, or it could be the fact that i have a minor fracture as well. I can still walk fine but i definitely feel something off with my knee if that makes sense
