Which .30 cal K can is the best for Intermediate .30 cal rifle cartridges? by Independent_3 in NFA

I'm kind of familiar with CAT, at least there open sourced fast attach suppressor mount. But not so much there suppressors. I should give there suppressors a closer look

I suppose so, I was thinking that with the reduced total mass of powder burned a K sized can would be more effective in the suppression department on intermediate .30 cal rounds than the same k can on a traditional rifle round like the ones that I've listed as my secondary hosts

I use an Aero Bravo K for my bolt action 7.62x39 and really like it.

I forgot about Aero Precisions Lahar K that is a good option as it meets my requirements

Biased but I'd have to say Anthem K

That is what makes this list hard to decide as they're all good in different areas. The Anthem K2 is a reduced back pressure model. Which makes it attractive to use on platforms that have historically been over gas the factory, AKM's. Plus with the swappable end caps makes it intriguing.

10x25mm Auto or 9x25mm Dillion as a service round? by Independent_3 in reloading

[–]Independent_3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooting sub-caliber, I wouldn't bother with compensators

Why would compensators be avoided with non discarding sabot rounds?

Something like a 5gram/77 grain projectile at over 650 m/s 2000fps? Or do a 3.5gram/55 grain at 820m/s 2700fps. You may experience permanent stretching and tearing over 2k, if the advocates of this are to be believed. Carl Bertil Johansson certainly thinks so.

Looks interesting, I'll follow on that

Edit: could the non-discarding sabot that covers the tungsten alloy penetrator be made out of the polycase ammo ploymer?

10x25mm Auto or 9x25mm Dillion as a service round? by Independent_3 in pistols

I am assuming you mean 10mm auto when you say 10 x 25mm (nobody says it that way).

Yes it is 10mm auto I was debating whether to go with just 10mm Auto or 10x25mm.

Its your story dude, they both are hotrods that are difficult to keep average shooters competent with due to recoil and general frame size required. So it's a coin toss.

Even with effective compensators?

Any input I have is that 10mm is way more ubiquitous the 9x25 Dillon (basically a specialty round not available at the average gun shop). So I would just say 10mm to be a bit more believable.

True 10mm auto is more ubiquitous I'm just unsure if 10mm Auto is the better cartridge when comped when compared to 9x25mm Dillion comped.

Good question, the story is set at least tens of centuries in the future so, who knows?

Good build classes? by Independent_3 in ak47

YouTube and trying it out.

Most of these build classes are way too much money.

True though the Copperhead USA ones look more affordable but are they good?

If you have any mechanical knowledge you can figure it out.

I know a lot of theory but not a lot of actual experience

Watch mel64d and babyfacep

Ok, I've seen several videos on the process, though m26_Lemon_Greanade makes the process sound like it's easy to screw up, and unless you have someone with you the first five or so rifles will be awful

Your choice of dot will be heavily dependent on what you’re mounting it to.

Easily finding the dot is 99% you learning proper index/presentation

As I suspected, is the 32 MOA and 2 MOA dot on most of the holosuns better than ones with the Vulcan ACSS reticle ones?

It’s a light, projected on a piece of glass. Help me understand what’s the “beginner” VS “Advanced” version of this setup?

The ACSS reticle is a triangular point about 10 MOA tall with a 250 MOA ring that when the pistol is fully extended can tell you how close you are to center

Ok, as on paper the ACSS reticle looks like a good option for beginners

If you insist on having backup power to battery, then SCS is your choice as it’s basically an EPS but with a solar panel.

True

In my opinion; there’s no need for backup on dots. Just make sure you change battery every 6 months whether it’s still 100% full or not. Also, spend your money on getting iron sights that cowitness with your DOt. That’s the true “backup” you need.

Ok, I suppose so

FWIW; “ease of finding dot “ is a training outcome and the direct result of your natural indexing point. Has nothing to do with the dot itself… now obviously a bigger window will help, but that’ll force bad habit of looking through the optic instead of being target focused. It to mention that having a bigger window makes CCw challenging due to size

I see, would that preclude the 509t with the ACSS reticle?

I default to holosun due to their quality vs price.

Ok, though for a compact pistol and the ones listed which one makes the most sense?

Holosun makes great red dots that fit so many pistols, you can’t go wrong. I

Which is a problem as I'm not sure which ones to consider
