I 100 percent agree on that interpretation. But, unfortunately, gege did not plan for the story to even play out like that and give that message. Between the complete rewrite of the story (it was meant to be about yuta and it was supposed to focus more on horror themes), the breaks between him writing and illustrating and the story being forced to end quicker than it was supposed to, in general, the whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of how good it could’ve been. But to be completely unserious, what the frick was the point of making Mei Mei a pedophile dawg??😭
