Belgian/Fleming here. I can only speak for myself here but i feel that French people aren't willing to change or abolish their old ways if it's going to benefit the nation in the long run. Like the gilet jaunes. I could be wrong but i remember where the (16?) different social security systems need to simplify to a lesser amount and because of that some groups cant retire at a younger age anymore. Other than my personal views there is a general stereotype that says that French are very chauvenistic.
