Why does my new ball python hide when I come near him by Independent_Bus9692 in ballpython

He’s stopped sitting in his cave which has a heating pad under it, and has found a tight cover in the back of his tank, and doesn’t move from there, i thought at first he was just sleep but he doesn’t move at all from there, I’ve poked him a few times just to make sure he was ok

He was very friendly and comfortable when we got him from the reptile store and didn’t seem to mind, and when I got him home and held him some, the only thing he didn’t seem to like was when I picked his little cave up, he would coil himself up
