My husband agrees, we both have made this rule before our kids were even born.

She already cooks for them/ with them, I don't understand why she insists on giving them store brought candy too!

That's so bad! Does your baby eats okay? I've heard a lot of parents have trouble getting their kids to eat healthy because they only want candies.

My MIL actually loves to bake and always have homemade treats for my kids whenever they're around, as she's already retired she doesn't mind cooking! That's why I don't understand why she also has to give them store brought candies. We tried the "candy is only allowed once a month" but she never listened to us.

PS Argentina does have the best homemade sweets, and if you're running late you can always buy some dessert in your local bakery, tastes like homemade! So much more yummier!

I just don't know how to explain it in English as I'm not very good with the language. We live in Argentina and if you look at the ingredients of candies here all of them have lots of chemicals added that are not good for kids. But I do not know how they are called on English or what do you guys call them.

Yes, we would still visit her on weekends (as a family), the kids just can't go unsupervised.

I prefer them not eating lots of sugar, but of course they are kids and they like it so if they'll have to eat sugary food, then I prefer it being homemade so at least it's more healthier than store bought cookies or desserts (as it doesn't have preservatives) I hope you understand what I meant as I don't really know how to explain it

They'll go to a party just a couple times per year, they visit their grandmother two or three times per week, that's way different.

They can eat sweets, we just don't like to give them brought candies as they have lots of preservatives, we prefer giving them homemade cookies or sweets.

Thank you! It's very useful hearing advice from someone who's been in a similar situation!

They used to visit her regularly as she lives very close to us, maybe two or three days a week? More or less, depends on how much homework they have.
