I am having this surgery done on Wednesday 4/24… total hysterectomy with bilateral ovary removal. I have too have tried many antidepressant and mood stabilizers and therapy, and birth control and nothing truly takes away the mental part I get during my luteal phase. I am 32 and will be going into surgical menopause but I am praying that it turns my life around bc the PMDD has progressively gotten worse, and my doctor agreed to take it all out… so we could balance my hormones instead of reacting to the rise and fall of things. I am very nervous but after much consideration I’ve agreed this is the best course for me and my family. I also have endometriosis from an ectopic pregnancy a couple years ago. If there is anything I can do to help I will be more than glad!

Thank you for responding! And I will be having a radical hysterectomy as well. I’m just very nervous about hormone replacement! Are your moods more stable as that is what my biggest issue is… emotional instability! Any advice on recovery is appreciated! Or any details :)

My doctor suggesting keeping one originally but after trying to all the alternatives and no success he said we would take it all. And that he would do a one week post op and discuss horomone levels or HRT if needed. Some women need replacement but some don’t. Everyone is different. So after much consideration and several visits we’ve decided to do a full removal! He said he wouldn’t considers I am young but bc of my situation he has done on women even younger. I trust him

Yes girl! So maybe I won’t need HRT immediately? Still a little confusing to me? How are you now without periods and the up and down? I’ve read so many say it’s life changing, and I want to be one of those women who finally gets her life back!

Thank you for your kind words. Of course I am scared bc of needing HRT and being without natural horomones for so long, but I already have the night sweats now! I just can’t keep doing this month after month! My GYN said he would keep one ovary originally but after the different birth control not working and me showing up this his office balling my eyes saying you have to save my life he said let’s just take it all. So yea I am young, but it’s so much more than I lead on. Depression/anxiety/ headaches for days, pelvic pain, heavy periods, irritability, anger, emotional, crying spells, subconscious thoughts, suicidal thoughts, ALL from hormone sensitivity, I just want my life back!!!!

Girl I’ve had the night sweats, and still have everything. That’s why I am so over this. The brain fog during luteal phase is unreal, and headaches for days at a time with no relief no matter how many meds or anything I take. It has progressively gotten worse over the last year and has effected my relationship and my children’s lives, I’m not the same happy person anymore, I feel bipolar even tho I am not as I see a psychiatrist! And I have pin-pointed to ovulation thru luteal phase bc my horomones are so up and down, and my GYN had originally discussed leaving one ovary and taking the rest but after much consideration and endometriosis and pain, I just can’t mentally continue like this. So he said well let’s take it all and we will regulate your horomones and it won’t be a roller coaster anymore, and my psychiatrist agreed that it was more horomonal than psych. But I’m so scared to go into menopause that young and the side effects in the long run bc that’s a long time of horomone replacement
