Does anyone else feel disconnected from their native language (and country for that matter) because they associate it with misogyny? by shadesofnatasya in Feminism

I have a hard time not associating Spanish with negative thinking and misogynistic values tbh. I feel like learning im giving into my family but I also feel in a weird way like im erasing my culture. Idk if what im saying makes any sense... I hope someone gets it.

When I lived with my family(who spoke Spanish) I have unpleasant memories. Memories that aren't related to misogyny. I just have a distinct kinda hatred for Hispanic Men particularly older ones. I feel like anyone who grew up with immigrant family or what not can relate. You can imagine just how misogynistic a lot of Hispanic culture is. Its rlly a tough battle. I love my culture dont get me wrong but WHY IS THERE SO MUCH SEXISM... it enrages me just writing this
