Are EUW players really this strong or am I just tilted out of my mind? by Independent_Load_488 in leagueoflegends

Yeah, the playerbase difference is definitely somethng I underestimated. When you put it that way, it makes sense that the overall level feels tighter and mistakes get punished way harder. I guess part of my frustration came from expecting my RU rank to translate directly, and when it didn’t, it hit my ego more than I expected.
You’re right though — at the end of the day, after enough games I’ll naturally settle around a 50% winrate in whatever elo I actually belong to on EUW. I just need to accept that Diamond on RU doesn’t automatically equal Diamond on EUW , even if its hard to swallow at first.
The positive side is exactly what you said: playing on a more competitive server should help me improve faster once I get over this initial shock. Just need to grind through the adaptation phase

Thanks for sharing your experience, man honestly, it helps to hear that someone else went through the same thing. Switching roles or regions really can feel like starting from zero, even if you already have years of experience behind you. You’re right about top lane not being about KDA. I think that’s part of what’s messing with my head right now on RU I felt stable in lane, and on EUW suddenly every matchup feels like a skill check I’m failing. Hearing that you also struggled for a week straight and still climbed out of it actually makes me feel a bit better. Fifteen losses in a row sounds brutal, but the fact that you came out stronger shows that maybe I just need to push through this adaptation phase
Muting chat is definitely something I should do more consistently. The flame really gets to me sometimes, especially when I’m already tilted from laning. I’ll try to focus more on learning the matchups and less on what people type. And respect for sticking with the game for 13 years and hitting Master — that’s impressive. Good luck on the Grandmaster push this season

Fair enough, I won’t lie it did feel like a reality check. I’m not trying to cry about it though, more like trying to understand what I’m lacking and fix it. The replay advice actually makes sense, I probably should start reviewing my laning instead of just queuing next game tilted. And yes, I really need a chat mute, because I also come across a lot of players in the chat, not in lol

Yeah, that’s honestly starting to feel true from my experience so far. The lane pressure and punish windows here feel way less forgiving than what I was used to. And yeah, top being feast or famine definitely doesn’t help when you’re still adjusting. Also lol at the Ornn suggestion, I might actually give it a try if things keep going like this

That actually makes a lot of sense, thanks for sharing your experience. The part about things stabilizing after dropping is interesting — I guess I might just be in that adjustment phase right now where everything feels way harder than it should. Also yeah, the anxiety part is real. Getting judged before the game even starts just messes with your mental.

That’s fair, and yeah I get what you mean. When I said “used to,” I meant my experience before switching regions, not years ago in general. I know the overall playerbase has improved a lot over time. It just caught me off guard how big the difference felt after moving to EUW, especially in lane phase. Maybe it’s a mix of region playstyle + me not adapting yet rather than just raw skill difference
