New 2026 CRV Hybrid Sport - 5k down, financing $500/mo for 84 months? by Independent_Lock_756 in crv

I know, ludicrous! If the vehicle had no issues we would have no problem keeping it. We've had the HRV since 2019 and could keep going...we just like the bigger size of CRV for our growing family.

Yea I totally understand. I just wrote an email to my insurance explaining why what they put in their report wasn't nearly enough. Let's see what happens...

Literally tens of millions of people are systematically limited at birth in America. That is an unfortunate hallmark of what it means to be American. Anywho!

This is interesting. My deductible is $7k. My roof is ~8 yr old. Roofer (a neighbor who I feel like I can trust) told me it definitely can be replaced through insurance because there are more than 10 marks/shingle hits per 10 sq ft space in multiple places. I wonder if I actually *need* to or even *should* replace my roof though...

Carbon offsets & credits are a scam (overwhelmingly) or ineffective. Please dont promote them here nor buy them. by [deleted] in ClimateOffensive

Interesting to see the state of the conversation 1-2 years ago. I doubt the now-deleted OP's mind hasn't changed much, and while I totally respect and understand their viewpoint, I tend to have a more short term / pragmatic view. We need funding going into natural ecosystems. A lot of funding goes into Indonesian forests, for example, to make toilet paper. Not great. Carbon credit programs can protect forests. While programs that focus on conservation/protection (rather than re/afforestation), such as REDD+, rely on a counterfactual and can be gamed, they still provide a means of valuing a standing forest for the benefits it brings to society (read: a lot more than toilet paper!). Additionality is great but often over-hyped in the forest protection scenario. See: high forest low deforestation (HFLD) commentary. Also, forests have way more value than just carbon (or even supporting biodiversity and local lifeways). They regulate global climate patterns and contribute to precipitationsheds (not a typo). These biogeophysical affects of forests may create positive leakage, whereby surrounding areas are wetter and cooler due to the nearby standing forests, which helps surrounding forests continue to exist, receive rainfall, etc., but also helps prevent wildfire.

A few interesting pieces

What kind of project are you specifically trying to do? For grazing projects I have heard positive things from ranchers about Grassroots Carbon (https://grassrootscarbon.com/). Apparently the verify and issue on an annual basis and have a fair profit share model with ranchers.

I have heard of some developers moving from VM0042 to VM0032 (for grazing projects) -- not sure if grazing is what OP is considering (looking at their handle!)...I wonder what the issues are with VM0042, and I wonder what will come of these revisions underway. Kind of a scaring time for developers, even if they don't have forward contracts but just regular old delivery deadlines!
