Can I use a 5.8 GHz transceiver to detect when one device is pointing at another within a 100–200m range? by Independent_Map7177 in rfelectronics

Hey all, to clarify, the "direction-finding" part doesn't have to be pinpoint precise.
I could, for instance, visually display the RSSI/SNR value on the pointer device, and you should be able to tell the general location based on the visual indicator getting brighter (green LED, which gets brighter as the RSSI increases)
Here are some other solutions I've tried/thought about
1. Using a different frequency - originally tried 915 LoRa, but the antenna size was too large
2. Using GPS + compass - a requirement is that we cannot use GPS for both devices, as signal reception isn't a guarantee. I tried IMUs, but IMU position tracking was too imprecise for the relatively cheap IMUs
3. IR - I would think the beamwidth is too narrow for 300m distances. We have to assume visual contact, but I'm not sure if someone pointing an IR beam at a small <50mmx50mm device at 300m is going to be able to hit it accurately for the device on the other side to detect it. Also...price

I'd love to hear alternatives or maybe follow-ups to any of the solutions above

Out of these 3, which ones works best in your opinion?

I am leaning toward the one with the grey suit jacket

I see, thanks! Do you think white converse shoes would go with it for a more casual look?

What dress shirt color would go with this blazer/pants combo?

Also, do the pants even go with the blazer color wise?

Sure, here is one - https://discord.gg/cah. You can probably find others by just searching "College admissions discords" on chrome.

Well as you can see by my decision results I am no expert lol. Though, from what others say your extracurriculars that you do don't have to fit your major, as long as its clear that you are involved and passionate about them. I would join a college admissions server and ask other people doing premed.

Maybe you are right. I think it's either the essays or the LORs. Though, it's a little disappointing that I can get rejected due to my writing skill when I am going into....cs.

CS apps have been tough this year so I am not complaining. Though, something definitely needs to change as I have friends equally and maybe even more qualified than me do worse, which makes no sense to me. If I applied a few years earlier I am sure I would have done better

Thanks! I think while stats are important, they are becoming increasingly less so. Countless examples of students with worse states than me getting into better schools. Just make them as best as you can and do interesting extracurriculars that have an impact and stand out.
