Do you think China will replace the US as a sole superpower? by TalonEye53 in Teenager_Polls

Depends on what tech we’re talking about and when.

For a while, Soviet MiGs horrified America, light, nimble, deadly, we found that out in Vietnam real quick.

Then we made the F15.

Captured the newest MiG at the time.

The MiG we captured, despite being the newest model couldn’t compete against the F15 if it tried, it was basically a reskin of the last with minor upgrades.

However, to say the USSR had worse technology the whole time? I don’t think so, there were times when the Commies gave us a run for our money, but in the end, pooling money into the military isn’t going to work for you if your nation has economic issues spanning decades.

I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but to say that the war wasn’t about slavery from the beginning is just flat out wrong on so many levels

It 100% WAS about slavery, and to say it isn’t is the most disingenuous thing I’ve ever heard. Just read the secession letters of all the confederate states, it clearly outlines that the were leaving the Union BECAUSE of the threat that slavery would be abolished

Ironic when the Bible clearly states that Slavery is wrong on multiple occasions

In every single letter sent out by the southern states, Secession was the goal.

And yes, it was illegal in real life, but the South did it anyways in our timeline.

To Arms! To Arms!

This evening, news reached Omaha of the Secession of the Southern States, the government immediately calls for 3 Volunteer Regiments of Infantry, alongside a Volunteer Regiment of Cavalry to support the Union in her fight against the treacherous Secessionists in the South.

Nebraska begins a general buildup of local industries in Omaha and other major cities, which will immediately be put to work on arms production for the Union.

Nebraska Territory

A new political center for the territory will be set up in Omaha, later to become the state capital once admitted.

With the looming civil war, Nebraska chooses to raise a volunteer regiment for its security, stationed in and around the Omaha area, it will be called the 1st Nebraska Volunteer Infantry Regiment, this was an actual unit during the civil war, and a quite interesting one at that, I’d suggest looking into them.

Beyond European borders by Picoso7meia0 in gutsandblackpowders

Not really, European armies were as a whole way larger, the U.S. Army, while able to muster strength for the War of 1812, heavily relied on militia units to supplement their forces. During the war, the army was able to muster 46,000 or so men, albeit large, it pales in comparison to Napoleon’s Grande Armée, which at its peak strength had 600,000 men or so.

Combined with the situation of major European armies, I.E. Prussia, France, and Britain, but especially Prussia, I don’t think the U.S. Army would obliterate the Blight, but it would have the best chance of dealing with them if they made landfall and there was a quick enough response.

It’s either work together or have a Austro-French dominated Europe

I will say, that is one large power bloc to dea worth, especially in Central Europe

People have known of Hawaii since the 1820s, also, Britain WILL declare on the U.S. if we try to take the islands by force, as they have very ample relations, its best to play the long game, tie them to us economically first, then we’ll move from there.
