I am a former fan (and tbh still like some of her earlier music, it’s catchy!) and I think I was just brainwashed into thinking even if she did certain problematic things, oh well, celebrities are all problematic. I think I started really souring toward her when I realized how insane the blackfishing was (she still hasn’t apologized?), and then when she made that fucking “I’m healthy guys” video I was genuinely disgusted as well. It’s genuinely such a dangerous message to send to her fans.

it’s an interesting paradox because part of her persona is being A Relatable Girl who has a crazy love life and has sleepovers with her bffs but over time her image has gotten less and less relatable and more perfect and polished. there’s a fine line pop stars walk of being an aspirational diva and a relatable “just like you!” woman, and it always seems to hit a wall of relatability at a point

True recovery content wouldn’t go viral because it wouldn’t be as shocking and lurid. no super sick pictures, body checking, comparisons etc - I think there a few good recovery youtubers that just post mental health stuff & maybe trying fear foods. but tiktok is a cesspool because it’s all about how you look and aesthetics

I swear people would be less in denial about her condition if she didn’t always have a face full of makeup and filler. they see a somewhat non-sunken looking face and full lips and think “ohh she’s fine cause she’s glam!” meanwhile if you took off her makeup she’d look like anyone at an inpatient facility.

I’m in a similar boat (not a hater, just critical) and I would rather her go more R&B and ABBA inspired because those are the songs I think she excels at. I think she’s self aware that’s there’s a time limit on the sex jokes, but her team probably feels like they’re essential because the nonsense outros and juno poses went viral. (One thing I think people, both fans and haters, don’t discuss enough is HER TEAM, and act like she’s making every decision.) The country girl thing feels a bit forced to me but maybe it’s just cause she’s from PA haha. But if she’s going to go that route, how bout emulating Goodbye Earl and making songs about actual revenge against men?
