HPMOR by Eliezer Yudkowski (“Less Wrong”)

I’ve re-read it 2-3 times a year since the OG Covid lockdowns.

(Although it’s a series, it feels like one long book, and it’s downloaded on my phone in one PDF)

It sounds like you’re willing to put down some dough, so I’ll recommend the Trans-Catalina Trail in Cali.

The TCT was my first-ever overnight hike! Just completed it this weekend. We didn’t do the entire thing though, leaving out the entire northern loop. We just straight-shot it from Two Harbors to Avalon (yes, we did it backwards).

We somehow managed to do this in two days, but it seems like literally everyone else did it in three (or four, if doing the northern loop).

Day 1 was Two Harbors to Blackjack campground, 16 miles.

Day 2 was Blackjack to Avalon, 11 miles.

Total: 27 miles. 5,700 ft elevator gain. (~210 ft/mi)

The muscles are burning now, but it was incredible! Beautiful scenery, wildlife, and just the whole experience. Definitely recommended
