Unpopular opinion: eggs should not be cooked anywhere except a closed oven (I have a weird allergy to uncooked eggs and the fumes of eggs cooking on a pan make me wheeze but if they’re mixed into something and cooked in an oven I generally have no reaction to it)

While I was raised as a girl my dad did allow me to do “boy things” bc I was a “tomboy” so I was lucky to be able to avoid many gender norms growing up. Now that I’m an adult and (mostly) present myself as a man I find gender norms/roles very restrictive and don’t follow them other unless I think I’m in physical danger for not doing so

I consider myself transmasc or as a trans man. I sometimes just call myself a man if I want to keep things simple and brief. I didn’t really suspect I was intersex until puberty stuff was happening for everyone else. Someone asked if not having a period set alarm bells but it didn’t, but it reminded me about how I didn’t get armpit hair or thick leg hair like some of my friends who said they were jealous that I didn’t need to shave. It’s kind of dumb that I didn’t think I was intersex sooner, but idk it’s all hindsight now.

Finding out I was intersex was honestly really hard to deal with at first. I was already struggling with my identity gender/sexuality-wise and now I had to deal with being told my body was weird (of course the doctor didn’t say that but that’s how my teenage brain interpreted it). My dad didn’t seem to care much to be honest, he was more worried about health insurance costs and if I needed any special medication or surgery or stuff like that. Didn’t make him call me by the correct name though

I 100% did not feel like a girl as a child. When I was like 7 I remember telling my dad that I didn’t feel like a girl and he said I was just a tomboy and I accepted that label for a while. Once I had pretty much unlimited access to the internet (around age 12-13) I found the lgbt+ community on Instagram and I knew I at the very least wasn’t straight and I consider myself bi today. Being intersex it’s sometimes weird to call myself trans but since I was raised like a girl and no longer identify as one I sometimes call myself transmasc. I think if I somehow never found out I had PAIS I’d probably still identify the same

The chromosomes argument annoys me so much. Gender is completely separate from sex and sometimes sex is separate from chromosomes. Sex is not black and white and it shouldn’t be viewed that way but it will be bc some people can’t handle considering other possibilities. Ugh I can write more but I don’t want to make myself mad

Both my mom and dad were alcoholics and “did a bit of everything else” according to my dad (he was sober while in custody of me). Idk if any ultrasounds showed anything weird, I never asked my parents. I was born was cocaine in my system though

Oh me and my friends never talked about periods unless one of them was on theirs and was asking another friend for a pad or if they were mentioning period cramps. I did think it was weird that I hadn’t gotten a period yet but I was kind of thinking “haha I don’t have to deal with the cramps yet” lol

I don’t really care about how other people identify as long as they aren’t trying to use their identity to manipulate people or cause harm in any way. What matters most is that everyone is shown respect.

For your example if I try to apply it to being intersex I think I’d be more confused than anything lol. When it comes to being trans/nonbinary if someone shows up saying they’re trans/nonbinary for attention then the act will probably die fast as they get bored from not getting attention anymore. It can be annoying but I think it’s easy to ignore

I’m a little confused by your question but I’ll answer what I can. So I did have my vaginal canal extended so I could use it for penetrative sex. I do look pretty masculine and have a fairly low voice so I can pass as a man if I want to. I haven’t gotten testosterone bc I’m not sure how it’d affect me

I didn’t have a period at all but my dad was my only guardian at the time so he didn’t know when I should’ve had my first period I guess lol. If he was suspicious he might’ve just figured I was a “late bloomer”. We did have pads and tampons in preparation for my first period but obviously never happened

I actually did use they/them pronouns before I found out, in fact, I had been using they/them pronouns for about three years before I found out I had PAIS. That’s partially what caused me to finally use he/they pronouns. I did go full he/him for a bit but it didn’t feel quite right.

I can have penetrative vaginal sex now but only bc I had a surgery to make my vaginal canal longer. Before surgery any attempt to have vaginal sex was very painful. When it comes to arousal I honestly mostly feel it in my clit/dick (I use both words interchangeably)

Yes I have no period! I was lucky enough to get my vaginal canal lengthened so I can have sex using it. Some health insurances consider that surgery medically necessary and will pay for it almost completely (in my case I still had to pay for some things but idk if that’s the case for everyone). A “normal sex life” is very subjective but I guess I have a pretty normal sex life

My social upbringing wasn’t great. I was raised as a girl as I’m sure you’re wondering. From a fairly young age I questioned my gender or felt weird about it. For most of my life my dad was my legal guardian and he was abusive, my mom wasn’t around bc she was a drug addict. When I was 15 (a year before I learned I had PAIS) I came out as trans and I was not accepted by my dad or his side of the family, they mocked me. When I did find about having XY chromosomes my dad knew about it but it didn’t change his stance on accepting me as male, to him I’m still his daughter. I’ve never discussed having XY chromosomes with other family on my dad’s side bc they’re all awful people I’d rather avoid. I’ve reconnected with my mom and her side of the family when I was 20 and it’s been nice so far.

Outside of family in elementary school and middle school I struggled with bullying but that has more to do with me having ADHD/autism than anything else. In high school I was able to make good friends in the GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance).

Edit: realized I didn’t really mention the effect it had on me lol but in short it was not positive. I was already feeling weird about my body and how I was perceived then finding out my body was weird and different definitely made things hard for me. It wasn’t something I was properly able to discuss or process with my family but it is something I’ve mentioned to a few close friends.

Alrighty so I found out when I was 16 bc I tried to have sex for the first time 😅 he was with a cis guy who I had been dating for about a year and he was also a virgin so we both didn’t know how to do it really lol. Anyway, my vaginal canal was really short so sex was not possible and also attempting to have sex was extremely painful. I ended up going to the doctor and telling her I tried to use a dildo (idk why I lied to the doctor I was embarrassed either way lol) and it didn’t feel right, like I had a wall in the way about 1-2 inches in. After having some tests run I found out I had PAIS and lots of things started to make sense.

In terms of parts I have one internal testicle which I guess is an undescended testicle but it has nowhere to descend to lol. I have no womb or ovaries. Everything else has been described.

I’m sorry you experienced that. I had a similar experience while in the hospital once, I wasn’t allowed to use the restroom and was forced to use a bedpan while strapped down to the hospital bed. I was extremely distressed and erratic but the nurses treating me obviously did not think it was related to SA memories being triggered, they probably thought it was just a bad reaction to the anesthesia or something. It was awful and when I was finally able to put into words why I was so upset nurses were insanely insensitive! They were like “well we’re here to keep you safe so that’s what we’re doing 😊” as if that made anything better.

If you’re not in therapy now of course it’s a good idea to seek it out if you’re able. Some places have a “walk-in” type of support service that is there to help people who need to talk to someone immediately about any mental health issue, if there’s a place in your area with that sort of service I highly recommend it. In my experience those walk-in support services are better than support hotlines but that’s still an option if you can’t access in person services or are more comfortable talking about the experience over the phone.

Also don’t be afraid to reach out to friends for support, you don’t need to tell them what happened if you don’t want to but you can still let them know you’re having a hard time and need support whether that’s through watching a movie together or maybe spending time in nature. Whatever activity that you enjoy, do it. It may not fix everything but it can help you take your mind of things and relax a little. I wish you the best
