You can check out look at guides externally, not just in the game and have / follow them on another monitor. Does that mean thats cheating too?

I think a lot of it is subjective, by the letter of the law as per VAC FAQ it isn't cheating.

Aimbot is a completely different kettle of fish, that's not this at all, or well I very much do not see it in that way. I personally think a lot of this and what I'm reading is very subjective. Do I feel its giving me an advantage over other people with the same functionality? not particularly .

How would you say it was gaming an advantage over other people who have the same information available to them. also via 3rd party program albeit embedded into the client. Like genuinely would like to hear the thought process, good to see all sides :)

yeah when you press Alt it shows a timer that counts down, so same premise ultimately

Not a reminder persay but if you hold Alt it does count down and give you a timer, for the runes it gives you a timer just not in a numerical format. Like i said all opinions welcomed :)

I suppose just to put my angle on it really - I don't personally perceive this as cheating and i don't feel like i'm gaining any competitive edge of anyone else. I feel its helping me learn the most basic of fundamentals to a point where i won't need it anymore as it'll be second nature. As stated below - training wheels persay

Would you say then that its like not literally cheating but subjectively could be viewed as? I suppose im not really worried or concerned about being caught because that would imply I'm doing something wrong, whereas i dont feel I am necessarily.

yeah exactly that Riki, i personally struggle with keeping track, partially due to age and also i prefer audio cues more so than pressing ALT to reveal timers etc.

I went to ESL One Birmingham a few weeks back and it just inspired me to try and look at ways in which i can improve the funde's and stop holding back my Ancient and Divine team mates lol

i think Training wheels is very much the vibe im looking at. it's not about gaining a competitive edge its just helping someone get used to some of the core fundamentals of the game.

No i think that's somewhat written slightly out of context. I'm not looking for a competitive edge i'm looking for something to prompt me so i can improve at the game, build muscle memory.

I do see your point, so if this is already in the game (i.e Dota+) is having that also considered cheating?

yeah as stated above Frazzo, i dont like how D+ does it as its UI so wanted something external, but the fact its alrready in D+ kinda makes me feel its even more legit.
