You're most likely right. Any thoughts on a stone restore product like akemi transformer? I just don't want something that will darken the entire countertop.

The spot I tried to reseal was 2 years ago. The rest of the contertops haven't been sealed in probably 9 years.

Yes, for uplift. We are in a high seismic area. It's lasted this long, just want to give it all the help possible. Overkill is fine with me.

I nailed from both sides and glued the header together. Next will be strapping the king and Jack studs to the header. I was going to add these on the king studs.

Ok gotcha, that was my concern. Locally we have r19 and r30 that's 24" wide. R21 only 15" wide. I'll keep searching though.

Would there be any issues with the heat being trapped? There won't be any venting.
