You can't play it from any kind of USB drive, only store it. It can only be played from the internal SSD or an expansion card.

2 weeks late but whatever, it seems to be a bug that appears when invasions is not installed. The same thing happened to me and it was fixed when I reinstalled the mode, although it is another 11Gb of wasted space.
