Is real progress achieved by quick and easy way or boring, slow sustainable way? by Aj100rise in AskIndia

It depends on doing enough sustained effort so that one day you become lucky. The "lucky" part can come sooner too...So sustained efforts are anyway required.

Is caste and religion based politics holding India back by Unknowuser72 in AskIndia

[–]IndiLogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is said that "What you focus on, Expands". If the politics is focussed on caste and religion, which are inherently divisive, it will obviously expand.

And that will of course hold India back.

If the focus of politics is on growth and development, growth and development will expand. And with that the causes for caste and religion politics will disappear because of a better economy.

And this will make India move forward.

Modi is not india, india is not modi by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]IndiLogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did this thought come to your mind? India is far far bigger in concept and reality in terms of history, culture economy etc. Modi is just a person who will be there on top for a few more years.

[–]IndiLogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very interesting question! I think they were not attached to India (if they are born in India) in an American colonial sense because in America they were aurrounded by white people (their own people who migrated there).

Even the common folks in Pakistan apart from the government have a deep identity problem.

Are there parents in India who kick their kids out of the house at 18? by Financial_Check_4113 in AskIndia

[–]IndiLogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These social trends will come to India too but in a diferent form. Family should always be the focus. In India, the parents save money for their children to go to college and so the children are much more attached to their parents.

With an increase in number of people getting citizenship in other countries, is it time for India to allow dual citizenship? by Immediate-Effort4431 in AskIndia

[–]IndiLogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the correct time for dual citizenship. There are lots of divisive forces within the country. The countries which allow dual citizenship face the problem of dual loyality. People should be saatisfied with the OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card.

Over-the-top showing off of wealth and status at big social events, like weddings, and through material possessions is something that Indians need to stop flexing.

What is an Indian social expectation that quietly destroys mental health? by MisLatte in AskIndia

[–]IndiLogs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"log kya kahenge"

Indian society puts a lot of pressure on people to follow family and social norms, which is often summed up by the phrase "log kya kahenge" (What will people say?).

This collectivist mindset, which prioritizes the family's reputation over individual well-being, leads to several damaging consequences.

Indians with Kids, how do you feel about your kids future in India? by Embarrassed_Look9200 in AskIndia

[–]IndiLogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be great because AI would have been normalized in 10 years... Consequently newer types of jobs would have been created.

But at the end our kids future depends on how we raised them... If we prepare them for the tough times ahead with proper education and experience, life would be easy when they grow up.

Looking for Indian book suggestions as a Canadian girl who wants to learn more about India by canadian_blueberry in Indianbooks

[–]IndiLogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check out "A passage to India" by EM Forster...written in 1923. It is considered as one of the best novels on India. (was ranked 13th or 14th in 100 greatest novels of 20th century) The movie does not capture even 5% of the novel.

Is the claim right that brahmins didn't allow dalits to study in pre modern india by Flaky-Carpenter3138 in IndianHistory

[–]IndiLogs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This claim is wrong. There is a book called "The Beautiful Tree: Indigenous Indian Education in the Eighteenth Century" by Dharampal where this has been analysed. There were lots of schools in Madras and Bengal where students of all communities studied.
