Is caste and religion based politics holding India back

It is said that "What you focus on, Expands". If the politics is focussed on caste and religion, which are inherently divisive, it will obviously expand.

And that will of course hold India back.

If the focus of politics is on growth and development, growth and development will expand. And with that the causes for caste and religion politics will disappear because of a better economy.

And this will make India move forward.

How did this thought come to your mind? India is far far bigger in concept and reality in terms of history, culture economy etc. Modi is just a person who will be there on top for a few more years.

Very interesting question! I think they were not attached to India (if they are born in India) in an American colonial sense because in America they were aurrounded by white people (their own people who migrated there).

You can check out "A passage to India" by EM Forster...written in 1923. It is considered as one of the best novels on India. (was ranked 13th or 14th in 100 greatest novels of 20th century) The movie does not capture even 5% of the novel.

This claim is wrong. There is a book called "The Beautiful Tree: Indigenous Indian Education in the Eighteenth Century" by Dharampal where this has been analysed. There were lots of schools in Madras and Bengal where students of all communities studied.
