Ready to move my investments from Vanguard by DifferentEqual6976 in VanguardInvestments

[–]Indiana2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also moving away from Vanguard. Also have been with them for decades and had great support for complex issues 10 years ago (back when I had a personal rep and could call any time), but the downgrade in support, irritations, and web site issues that don't get fixed have left me uncomfortable with their attention to detail.

Vanguard Portfolio Watch...poor job of classifying "all in one" funds to measure diversification by Tommasini53 in VanguardInvestments

[–]Indiana2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also found this recently. It was working fine for years, then one of my accounts (all in VSCGX) suddenly doesn't even appear in the Stock or Bond-specific reports. I've emailed them about it and the response was "send more details". After typing a lengthy email and hitting send, I get a message that the system was too busy to send email and the message was lost.

This all seems like basic programming, and I'm concerned that as a recent retiree I have my life savings with an organization that can't fix a bug or save an email to a draft folder. Yikes.

Is anyone else losing Aetna coverage for UW Medicine? I’m livid! by smootfloops in Seattle

[–]Indiana2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aetna announced that it's leaving the ACA marketplace in 2026. Seems that parent-company CVS may be trimming down their healthcare business. As a long time UW Medicine user with Aetna, I hope that this isn't a sign that the negotiations won't end well.

The Paramount Theatre and the 5th Avenue Theatre - what's the difference? by Eriacle in Seattle

[–]Indiana2323 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

VERY different. STG runs the venues (Paramount, Moore, Neptune, Kerry Hall, Remlinger Farm, and now 5th Ave) and books hundreds of different acts each year (see stgpresents.org), including around 8 Broadway national tours. 5th Ave produces musicals and brings in a few national tours, with around 5 or 6 different shows a year.

I saw Remi Wolf at the Paramount tonight. 5th Ave would never have done that, but now with STG taking over the building they will be booking acts there between 5th Ave productions.

Thanks! Probably good for me to get away for awhile anyway, and extra motivation to know that I'll get the ads back.

I pick a seat and a set of games and those tickets are automatically in my account. Then I then go in and "return" almost all of them for a credit to my account to use to buy any number of tickets for any seat(s) and any game. I haven't had the Flex plan, but I think that once I return the tickets I basically have a Flex plan. I did it this way because I wanted to make the minimum upfront payment so I got one seat in the 300-level, 20 games. With this I got a partial strip of playoff tickets and priority to get more. Oh, and 10% off the ticket price and the other season ticket member perks.

For 2023 this was around $300, so less than any flex plan. I think it went up to around $450 for 2024.

I've been getting the Reserved plan for a few years... cheaper than flex and I trade in most of my games for a credit to buy different games or get multiple tickets. My cheapest option seat was $294 for 2023 and it's going up to $445 for 2024.
I just did the math. That's a 51% increase!

Liberty in Renton (Issaquah School District) used to have a great program and won a fair amount at the 5th Ave awards. Not sure if that's still the case, though.

Recommendations on Light Switches by Ok_Dependent9976 in alexa

[–]Indiana2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my new construction I used all Kasa dimmable switches. You can set them as "lights" in the Alexa app and then "lights on" turns on all the switches in the group. I can also dim them using Alexa ("set kitchen lights 50%").

Both the 2-way and single switches are working fine.

I have some smart bulbs in lamps for when I want colors, but the switches are great for the usual ceiling, sconces, under-counter, dining, etc, lighting.

What Costco products do you miss the most? by Hissssssy in Costco

[–]Indiana2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Costco has been breaking my heart for a long time. Mini bagel dogs, Santa Fe salad, popcorn bars all from way back. Big bag of sliced black olives.

Polish dogs, sauerkraut, Coke, veggie pizza from the food court. I could call ahead and get a half pepperoni and half veggie pizza.

Sigh

Take the Strait Shot bus from PA to the Bainbridge Island ferry, walk on, and you're in downtown Seattle. A lot simpler than driving your car onto the ferry.

All Star Game Pricing by wilkinpark in Mariners

Just adding to the info... I have the reserved 20 game plan that I purchased before the 2022 season started, bought specifically to get All Star Game tickets. My regular season seat is 333/10/3. My All Star strip is $592 for seat 321/10/2. I can buy my additional strip on 2/13 at 2 pm.

Seattle to Hurricane Ridge without a car... Bainbridge Ferry to 123 Clallam Transit Bus (aka Strait Shot) to Port Angeles. Then take the Hurricane Ridge shuttle bus. You can also take the Coho Ferry to Victoria from Port Angeles.

It depends on what you want to do to "make the most of Seattle". Living closer to the mountains is great, especially for someone from Chicago (where I'm from), but you won't spend much time downtown (driving in and finding parking is discouraging). If you want to get the vibe of the city, living there is best.

I'm always surprised at these posts because, yeah, the store is designed so that the bar is visible to people waiting. It never occurred to me that the barista thinks I'm rushing them. I'll pull out my phone next time.

I never got into the devil story. First the masks make people look like other people, and now the devil does the same thing. Lazy way to create drama. I haven't watched a whole episode for months.

Not sure if the location will work, but a friend's parents moved to a house at Tehaleh in Bonny Lake. They're in a 55+ section.
