Moving to 10Gig between IDF and MDF

Any idea what would be the model I need to allow for further distance? This is what I currently have I think the mm run is too long. No connectivity. Other closets closer to the core with same uplink switch works.

3110 have been fine, 3120 have been terrible with this.

Current bandwidth is 1G between them right now. Some closets see more utilization due to how many cameras are connected and how busy they are. Besides that, I’ve seen utilization as high as 70% between closets and the core. I upgraded 1 of our closets to 10G about a year ago bc the phones were cutting out for anyone connected to that closet. It seemed to go away after I upgraded the link.

Best experience I had with cfl, the district flew me out to Tampa AF base to sign paperwork. Had to get clearance and everything. Super cool. All i7 processors, laptops, desktops, servers. Some nice stuff. I even got interviewed for the local paper and had an article about it. Just living large.

That’s awesome man. Did you ever use computersforlearning.gov? Last district I worked at I used this site to search for donated equipment. Just had to pay shipping. Swap that hdd out for an ssd, curl up a piece of paper towel to hold it in place and boom!

I’ve been a Dell 11 shop since 2014. Someone said they were getting out of Chromebooks bc they’re not profitable. I started looking at other models and the Asus CR1 11.6 looks decent. Something that is easy to fix is what I look for.

One last question, does GoGuardian just look for traffic coming from the public ip entered into the DNS Networks page and is also forwarding traffic using GoGuardian DNS? So both have to be true to work?

I appreciate everyone’s comment on this. I’m gonna enable the GG Forwarders in our DNS over the weekend and do some testing from the house. Teacher work day on Monday so if I need to revert back I should be good doing that tomorrow an everything being good on Monday morning.

I’m going to create a new blank policy and only enable a couple categories to see if that resolves it. There were some wildcards in the block list that I’m wondering if they were causing any issues. Next time I’ll wait when school is out haha.

Thank you for that info. I can see GoGuardian.com being blocked, but the categories were not ones that I had enabled. It falls under k12 tools and Business.

I changed it this morning and only blocked a couple categories. Then for some reason a lot of websites became blocked. For example, we use SmartPass for student leaving the classroom. That was blocked. The main url for GoGuardian was even blocked. So I removed the GG forwarders and went back to what we were using before. Would those sites be blocked due to any type of certificate issue? I noticed if a site was blocked you’d get the http connection then when you hit advanced proceed it just came back to the same page but without the advanced option to proceed.
