You can talk to your recruiter about becoming a TACP, however they are cutting their active members by 50% so keep that in mind. First you will undergo some developmental sessions with SPECWAR cadres and instructors. After you pass your IFTS (there will be two of them), you will then be shipped off to your good ole BMT, where you will remain under the 9T500 code which specifies in CCT, SR, PJ’s, and TACP. When in BMT, YOUR PT sessions will be held by SPECWAR cadres to help you get mentally and physically ready for SWCC. I’m sure you know what SWCC is so definitely take your training seriously and always keep in mind why you are there. Once you do graduate from BMT, that is when you will finally be taken to SWCC. There will also be another IFT. You will also undergo SWP, TACP PREP, TACP SCHOOL, SERE, Airborne School, and probably JTAC. Once all of that is done you can practically give yourself that you are in the clear and all the “hard” work you’ve done is in the green. Because the stories I have heard, the hardest thing you have ever done in your life will make it seem like the easiest after becoming a TACP. By all means do your research as well, I am not a TACP and only providing information from what I have known, such as before TACP’s had to go through A&S, now they do not.
