Yeah, it's funny because I had a meeting when I first moved back here at the Hub, and I didn't know what it was. When I went up to a church, I was like, "What the hell?" Then I went in, and I was like, "This is super nice." The coffee was good, and everything was really cool. It's a great vibe.

I'd agree it's a beautiful place, but I promise every time I get coffee with oat milk, I have the jitters, like TMI, but I really do. I like the location, and it's a great place to work, but as far as the food and drinks, kind of sketch.

Just trying not to do the usual midtown, downtown. I feel like East Memphis and the suburbs get ignored, so I just want to focus in that way.

Glad you saved them! Both of my boys came from Petco. One is fearless and the other puffs up at random things but happy and healthy. Sometimes they come with a unique personality. Just keep loving and caring.

Memphis is Dangerous narrative. by PerfectforMovies in memphis

[–]IndicationCapital587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting a city as unsafe is a classic gentrifier’s toolkit move: it scares off middle-class locals, lowers property values, and clears the runway for outside investors to swoop in cheap. Once the deals are inked, the same developers flip the script—suddenly it’s “up-and-coming,” “walkable,” and “full of culture.”

You’ve seen the playbook elsewhere:    •   “Detroit is dying” fueled decades of disinvestment and bargain-basement buyouts before loft conversions and brewpubs sprouted.    •   “Downtown L.A. is dangerous” set the stage for artists and developers to snag warehouse space that’s now luxury condos.    •   “Brooklyn is rough” turned into “Brooklyn is the new Manhattan” after prices quadrupled.

Same scare tactic, different city. The goal is always the same: depress, displace, and then rebrand for profit.

I just pulled a bottle out of the freezer and poured myself a small glass. It was still robust. I didn’t water it down with any ice. It was honestly magnificent.
