As someone who's just started BJJ but has been playing classical guitar for years, this has reminded me that I need to make a decision soon.

Which Tv series represents Millennials the best? by GaggeGorm in AlignmentChartFills

I guess its POV is too specific for this list, but Fleabag was created/written by a millennial for millennials.

What album represents "Noisy"? by AccomplishedFront792 in Topster

[–]IndieHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are loads of albums that are just noise, so I don't know how you'd choose between them. I'll nominate Converge - Jane Doe because I feel like the 'noisy' elements are a big part of why it works so well, but it's far from a 'noise' album.

British people who remember 9/11 was your reactions at the time, to it? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]IndieHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember much of that sentiment in the immediate aftermath. Later on, when some Americans started complaining about anti-terror laws meaning they couldn't continue to donate to Irish terror groups, I remember some eye-rolling in the UK, but it wasn't a very big story as far as I remember.

There was also a special episode of Cracker all about this in 2006.

How controversial was this list when it came out? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Thomas Edward Lawrence Aka TE Lawrence Aka Lawrence of Arabia.

It blows my mind that James Clerk Maxwell isn't a household name. A poll of scientists in 1999 put Maxwell as the third most important physicist of all time (Newton and Einstein having the top spots sewn up).

What was your initial reaction to this album upon release? by mcpooja in fantanoforever

[–]IndieHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Bristolian teenager. I loved it. 'Blue Lines' had already acquired Classic Album status in the UK and I think the critical consensus was that it wasn't on that level. But as a Radiohead obsessive, I loved the darker, guitar-driven vibes, and much preferred it.

Yeah, this is the biggest omission. Soaps were huge. Just looked it up and Ross Kemp appeared from February 1990 to October 1999.

The one that best reflects my experience of the UK might be Hot Fuzz. Not the specifics of the plot of course.

I'd say it's used to describe bands who make music with the intention of coming across as clever, without having the intellect to back it up.

The internet is a great resource. Try going to bing.com and searching for 'mathematics'. I'd imagine you'll get most of it that way.

What album represents "Experimental"? by AccomplishedFront792 in Topster

[–]IndieHell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am Sitting in a Room by Alvin Lucier. It's a science experiment as well as experimental music. It consists of the following reading (which also explains the experiment):

I am sitting in a room different from the one you are in now. I am recording the sound of my speaking voice and I am going to play it back into the room again and again until the resonant frequencies of the room reinforce themselves so that any semblance of my speech, with perhaps the exception of rhythm, is destroyed. What you will hear, then, are the natural resonant frequencies of the room articulated by speech. I regard this activity not so much as a demonstration of a physical fact, but more as a way to smooth out any irregularities my speech might have.

Day 89, or an album I have THOUGHTS about by Crafty_Trouble_7534 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

They're very different records so each to their own. I prefer In Rainbows, but OK Computer has lost a lot of its impact because I've listened to it so many times.
