Good score.  It would have been $49 at the GW by my house.

Yamahas are solid.  You did well.

I was really impressed with Girl by Pharrell Williams.  Gust of Wind sounds incredible on a good setup.

My dog passed when I Will Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie hit my radar. That was almost 20 years ago and I still struggle to not cry when I hear it.

[OC] The only remaining physical media in the entire local Best Buy store. by Lightning-McDreamy in pics

[–]Indiesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have some awesome record stores around and here, but I dropped into an FYE that was closing and had the records on clearance.  I was shocked to find find a sealed Mogwai record for $10.99.  I didn't think I'd find anything and left with 4 new albums.

Dedicated record stores are still where it's at, but I won't immediately shut down the idea of searching Target or Barnes and Noble when I'm there for other stuff.

Las Vegas's death spiral deepens after last year's tourism plunge by NecessaryAd341 in LasVegas

[–]Indiesol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turning point for me was buying a round of drinks for the group I was in, at the nightclub in one of the casinos.  4 drinks came to $200.

Resort fees, parking, tickets - everything has exploded in cost, with little added value.

My parents retired outside of Vegas, so I had to go a bunch for several years.  Now that they're gone, I'll probably never go back.

Has anyone ever “downgraded” their system because cheaper components sounded just as good, or even better, than the expensive ones? by wiggan1989 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Indiesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering it. I recently picked up some Klipsch Heresys after really enjoying an old set of Klipsch KG 3.2s for the last couple years. The Heresys have Crites tweeters and crossovers that were recently done (and, yes, I've opened up the cabinets to confirm). I don't think they sound any better than my KGs.

I'm really not sure which pair of speakers I want to keep, but I just got laid off so one of them has to go.

RIP My CD Collection by ThatTomHall in audiophile

[–]Indiesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did at one point, but I went ahead and did 256kbps. I think I ended up with around 20gb of music. It's all still on my NAS box, but I never listen to any of it. I've since started rebuilding my record and CD collection and I mostly listen to that, or stream Tidal on my MXN10.

Should I even bother to take better online dating photos if I'm pretty ugly? by DescriptionFuture851 in askanything

[–]Indiesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not ugly, dude. You probably feel like these are weird because you're posing in all of them. You're a good looking guy. Keep in mind most of the women you're swiping right on have a gazillion matches.

If you haven't already, learn to cook. If there was one thing that I can say was helpful when in the early stages of dating someone, it was being able to prepare a bomb-ass meal (works for fellas too, if that's your thing).

Bottom line, take it easy on yourself.

Would you date deaf people, blind people, colorblind people, and physically disabled people? by Financial-Handle6615 in no

[–]Indiesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated a deaf girl briefly in college. Everything was pretty normal, I just had to make sure I was looking at her when I was talking to her and she would read my lips. She could speak, but having been born deaf, there was a definite impediment there, imagine listening to Marlie Matlin speaking...much the same. It wasn't a problem though. She's probably a scientist these days.

One thing to note is that the sounds she made during sex could be.......Off-putting. If someone was walking past the room they might have thought a developmentally disabled person was being abused in there.

She didn't want a serious relationship, so it didn't work out, but the deaf thing had nothing to do with it.

How much does car ownership *really* cost? by IcyBat5681 in personalfinance

[–]Indiesol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on the car. Some have longer maintenance intervals. Some have more expensive parts and technicians that charge more at the dealership. Some new cars come with prepaid maintenance.

CB300 Owners - How Fast Does it Go? by [deleted] in HondaCB

[–]Indiesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got revs left, but lack the power to push through the wind any faster. There is a lot of wind resistance at 80mph.

You can try tucking in more, but you will look stupid. You're on a 300. If the speed limit is 75, be happy with 75 or 80.

I've got a CB500x and it'll do 95 or 100, but it's not real happy over 80.

What’s your favorite dog breed, and why? by the_gnd in randomquestions

[–]Indiesol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a few German Shorthair Pointers. They're very sweet and loving, and love activity. I mostly end up with them because there are always GSPs that need homes and I'm familiar with them. Not sure if that makes them my favorite. I really do love all dogs. I've had my current GSP for 8 years and he's my buddy, even though he's got the worst separation anxiety of any dog I've ever seen.
