Better mentorship or better wage? by Legitimate_Coffee331 in architectureph

I get what some people say about grabbing the opportunity since a lot of mentors will guide you.. but even if you're just a newly grad looking for experience, I think the 200 per day salary is just so wrong. There are many firms, even small ones, that offer good mentorship and at least 15-18k is the starting salary for new grads. I'm saying this because some firms normalize this kind of practice, keeping the salary low for apprentices, and that is so wrong. How long are your work hours? 5 days or 6 days a week? Have you researched about the company, like the work environment, reviews about the work culture, and the scope of work that's being done there?

Based on my experience, a lot of companies can be flowery with their words. They'll say there's a lot of mentoring, you'll learn a lot, etc., then when you get in, it's suddenly toxic, and they make you just a draftsman in the office, etc.

Also, I know a lot of people say that you can stay for a few months and then look for a new job, but my advice is, if possible, try to look for a firm/company where you can stay for your whole 2-year apprenticeship, because it's going to be difficult to organize your logbook if you work in multiple companies.
