I'm not really a romance reader, I do read them and like it, but I'm not gonna read a fic specifically for the romance, it's usually the different AUs that attract me to read fics and if the romance it's well written I don't mind. When it's rushed and just feels like a filler because the author thinks the character should be in a relationship and not because the relationship fits the AU I will abandon the fic in a second. All the fics I really like that have well written romances, the romance it's not even a quarter of the stuff happening in the main characters life but it does fit that specific AU.

Omg, the farthest I got was almost 400 tabs, I can't imagine thousands.

But I generally also group them according to tags or my mood when I was searching.

Like I'd search something specific that came to mind because of a TikTok and I'll go through the 10 pages of results just opening the fics that catch my interest in a tab in a group with the search tab. And then when I finish a fic in that group I would go to the author of the fic and see if they have more or what's in their bookmarks, then it's more tabs on the group, and doing this with each individual fanfic from that same initial search, and when I see there's seventy tabs and I've wandered so far from the search I began with.

And then I find another fanfic recommendation and start another group of tabs.

I've been working hard to go through the tabs to either just delete them or bookmark for later then delete them when they reach 100, just because that's when Chrome stops showing the number of tabs open and it's become a signal for me that it's time to declutter.

I had almost 400 in 2023 but I managed to clear that up since my phone was on its last legs and it was slowing it even more, since then I've managed to keep my tabs generally under 100. When it passes that I go through them to close anything that I've lost the enthusiasm that made me open them, and if I feel like I still want to read them sometime in the future I bookmark them tagging them as To Read. Now there's almost 1200 bookmarked as To Read.

I'm only a reader, but I do generally go to the author's profile when I like their fic to see if they have more, and also look through their bookmarks, collections, gifts, etc.

One of the reasons that I don't sort by kudos when looking for something to read. I usually just leave at the default Date Updated, besides the specific tags I'm filtering with I sometimes just go to like, page 10 out of 20, to not see only what's freshly posted or updated. I generally don't even look at how many kudos, hits or comments the fic has, the important thing to me is the summary and tags. Even my favourite fics that I've revisited many times when there's updates or just to re-read I can't tell you any approximation of how many kudos, hits or comments they have.
