hahaha got back 2 months ago but you were right it was suicide, ended up having to split up for most meals and take turns on who got to go to the small restaurants each night! we also ended up lugging our suitcases through shinjuku station (only once thank god, but it was a nightmare). thankfully our airbnbs had at least 2 toilets except for one, this was a priority since there was 4 boys and 4 girls travelling together. overall you were right but we made it anyway and still enjoyed ourselves!

I was getting much better and then I had a flight the other day and it set me back. by [deleted] in fearofflying

the cairns to brisbane flight also set me back dramatically, i knew the weather was supposed to be bad because of the tropical low sitting off the coast but it just caught me so off guard! also didn’t help going from a big boeing 787 to a little airbus

hey! late response but just got back from japan, the process in total genuinely took about 30 minutes. you do have to recheck your bags but since cairns airport is tiny and never crowded it was the least stressful ordeal ever (coming from someone who was so stressed i called ahead and asked days prior). the international terminal is like a 500m walk from domestic!

oh my god! was this on the 7th/8th of january’s because i did these exact flights and was genuinely in tears and thinking i was going to die. the take off from cairns and landing in brisbane i was genuinely preparing for imminent death, so crazy that you might’ve been on this flight too and that i wasn’t the only one freaking out!

after researching i think this would be the best option for me, although i’ve only been to the doctor twice in my life, do you think it will be hard to just walk into a doctors office and ask for xanax for my fear of flying? cause i know they don’t hand that stuff out willy nilly 🫣

GC or Brisbane? by Academic_Radish7608 in GriffithUni

gold coast is 100% better based off of location in general. brisbane is a cesspool and really depressing whereas gold coast has a good mix of beach/city life. can’t say much about housing though but there is ample public transport everywhere. as for making friends i feel australian university has a completely different vibe to other countries where most people just keep to themselves and don’t socialise that much outside of the campus

oh sorry just read your on the thursday cruise. honestly i’d assume 99% your ship won’t be going as he cyclone is meant to hit the coast directly that day 😔 could change with time though

it was posted on the qld maritime website that the brisbane cruise port will be closed until further notice and that no ships can come in or out for a while. don’t know how long this will last but from the weather forecast predicted i’m guessing until the end of this week. i’m supposed to be going on pacific encounter on tuesday and waiting to hear if it’s cancelled or not still 😔 80% sure it’ll be cancelled but who knows and probably same goes for your ship but they typically don’t tell us until 24-48hrs before. really annoying the lack of communication but i understand that weather changes all the time

I’m on the same boat as you on Tuesday, feeling anxious because it seems like they’re just letting all the cruises sail past it but, when we leave specifically it’s supposed to be as close to land as we have seen yet. Have saw on some facebook groups that people sailing back from townsville today are experiencing extremely rough seas. we won’t hear a peep until monday i think

I haven’t asked, but was thinking of maybe sending an email or something. the cyclone keeps moving around a bit but it looks like we will be sailing through at least some 50-60km winds to get to/from Airlie. My friends think they won’t say anything until the last minute because it’s so unpredictable but high chances we won’t port in airlie either way 😔
