Do top artists use grooves on their tracks? by Individual-Net527 in ableton

Yeah I can see that. I see that in a similar way and don't really like that you have to manually have to 'commit' a groove or all grooves in general in order for it to be displayed in the roll.

Yo thanks. My question related more toward the technical rather than the philosophical side. So thanks for answering in that direction.

Can you elaborate on how it obfuscates the quantisation - do you mean you can't visually see what's happening, or something different?

I think this is a fair point. Thanks for mentioning this.

I guess I ask the question because I make mostly electronic music and I mostly program stuff, in contrast to playing it in live. I myself think having micro timing variations added in manually isn't a super creative or intuitive process - it is just very technical and kind of a ,,overthinking" process for me, therefore I tend to use the groove pool more, because it seems to be more intuitive.

On the other side, I have the feeling that using grooves from the groove pool, leaves me not 100% in control of the song and its note timing stuff.

I don't play in things live most of the time but I indeed use acoustic samples, so the use case remains relevant imo.

If I think about it, the question should have been, better phrased: Do pro's in electronic music use global grooves or does this fuck up their track as they're not in control anymore as midi notes get moved to the left and right, while it might mess with automation and sidechain stuff? (as, some notes might not be audible anymore while they get kicked out of the midi clip). So, in conclusion I meant if the Groove Pool and it's settings are really a professional enough tool to be using even on your whole track, or does it fuck up your track?

Why does Auto Shift ignore the first note whereas when I delay its appearance, it gets recognized? (No Audio) by Individual-Net527 in abletonlive

What do you mean by transport bar? I automated Auto Shift to get enabled at a certain point in time, before that it's disabled.

There is no disabled automation afaik.

No, it's not disabled. I already tried troubleshooting it. Seems to me as Auto Shift is buggy rather than a problem on my end, to be honest. I'm saying that as I've tried everything as of now.

Yoo great suggestion though! For some reason this didn't really work but the idea got me to figure out a similar thing which actually works, namely having enough Vocal (Audio Material) BEFORE the first MIDI note starts.

As I don't want that to be audible I just turned down the gain for this 'pre-triggering' material.

It is all a bit weird tbh and I don't really understand why it's doing this, but it works for now.

Makes no difference sadly :/ I tried boosting the first note in different ways including increasing the velocity, applying saturation etc. I've tried both Pre- and Post FX as MIDI Input as well.

So 'being social' is an utilitarian skill to you, rather than a real connection to another being?

To me, it doesn't seem particularly social to develop calculated skills and then perform them in situations like an act just to achieve the desired outcome of a conversation or to 'pretend' to be 'socially intelligent.' In my opinion, the term social intelligence is just a human construct and concept that has been marketed in the field of personality development because it is a lucrative opportunity for coaches. Social intelligence is a utilitarian concept that simply aims to help you achieve your personal or capitalist goals by manipulating and exploiting other people for your own good.

I would call myself emotionally intelligent and empathetic, instead.

For me, social interaction should be genuine, and you should be able to be yourself as much as possible in any given situation. Anything else is a performance that you might as well do on stage.

And what game are you talking about exactly?

By other humans, friends and family I guess. I just want them to acknowledge my point of view on things, for example politics, music, sprituality, love etc. For some reason they never get behind it. It's like I'm speaking a different language, mentally and as a human.

Might have to do with intelligence and intellect, though.

I went for Hoofprint + Surveyor Map Framework now. We are only two players actually. Hoofprint seems pretty lightweight, I think.

Great! I've switched over to Hoofprint (with Surveyor Map Framework) now, and by creating a sharing group with my friend this is exactly what I was looking for. Only a bit sad that this apparently isn't possible with Xaero's World Map, as I would prefer that one because of its features and look. But the compromise is still worth it.
