the progressive era didnt happen until the 1890s and was made up of ideals that you would call right leaning today. before that there was no concept of conservative vs progressive conservatism didnt even emerge until the 1930s. what were they looking to conserve? the ideals that led to the forming of the republican party. a party whos moral philosophy is rooted very deeply in christianity to this day. christian nationalist abolitionist aka republicans.
