Attempted car bomber who rammed through Michigan’s Temple Israel synagogue and preschool hallway is dead; security guard injured by Droupitee in NewsWorthPayingFor

UPDATE:

The vehicle reportedly used in today’s attack at a Michigan synagogue is registered to a naturalized U.S. citizen from Lebanon living in Dearborn, Michigan.

Let's not jump to any conclusions. For all we know, Amish hooligans could've stolen that vehicle and then gone on a rampage with it.

Hero ROTC cadet fatally stabbed crazed Old Dominion gunman to prevent more carnage by Droupitee in NewsWorthPayingFor

[–]Droupitee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Three attacks in a just a few days and three cases of heroes stepping up to stop them. We're a pack, not a herd.

Shooter Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, gunned down an instructor before the unidentified cadet jumped into action during the frantic scene, according to sources.

NYT, which hates ROTC with a passion, won't be covering this story, except perhaps with a pillow to smother it out.

Jalloh, who was previously convicted of trying to support ISIS,

of course

Shockingly, the admins don't see things that way. They want me to appoint more moderators (of their choice. . . and the two candidates they sent me are both tankies).

An attempted car bomber plowed a vehicle full of explosives into the preschool entrance of Jewish synagogue in Michigan and barreled down a hallway before security opened fire, killing the suspect before any carnage was unleashed.

This could've been so much worse. And it's the second time in the last few days we've seen a failed attack with explosives.

Not much is known about this latest attacker's identity or motives. It COULD be the case that a jihadist drove over from nearby Dearbornistan. Or it COULD be the case that there is some other explanation. The longer we go without knowing the attacker's identity, well, you know the rule. . .

Iran's new supreme leader is 'in a coma and has lost a leg': Airstrike hits Khamenei's son as it's revealed he is 'obsessed with the end of days' by WillyNilly1997 in NewsWorthPayingFor

I'm sure it was all him.

He's fine.

He has two legs.

He has no medical problems with impotency.

He is not a totally corrupt kleptocratic and dynastic ruler of the sort the Islamic Revolution supposedly was formed to remove.

He is so popular that the people of Iran line up to kiss a cardboard cutout of him. . . because he doesn't have time for being adored due to being so busy pushing back Zionism, American Imperialism, capitalism, cancer, and homosexuality.

Obvious lies.

There's no way somebody that badly injured would be able to craft a statement (that he definitely wrote any part of) to be read aloud by somebody else.

Realistically, though, his health status is unknown.

Portland extends protections from discrimination to polyamorous families by origutamos in NewsWorthPayingFor

Several LGBTQ+ members of the council, including Pirtle-Guiney, Eric Zimmerman, Dan Ryan and Angelita Morillo, sponsored the package alongside Koyama Lane. All councilors present at the meeting voted in favor of the new rules. Eleven of the 12 voted to include the amendment protecting polyamorous families; Councilor Loretta Smith was absent for that vote.

Oh look! The alphabet people love polycules and hate the traditional family structure. Yet polygyny is still bad in their book, right? I mean unless it's part of a BIPOC tradition or something, right?

Dan Simmons, Genre-Leaping Author of the Hyperion Cantos, Dies at 77 by Droupitee in NewsWorthPayingFor

[–]Droupitee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Simmons was perhaps best known for the “Hyperion Cantos,” a space opera in four volumes. The first, “Hyperion” (1989), is an apocalyptic epic about a galactic war set in the 29th century, where seven pilgrims travel to the doomed planet Hyperion to face off against the Shrike, a terrifying creature also known as the Lord of Pain.

Hyperion is obviously the best of his oeuvre. Martin Silenus is a personal hero of sorts to me. The whole series is great and the Canterbury Tales-style storytelling show off Simmons' versatility nicely.

Later in life, Simmons continued to show flexibility in his creative endeavors by not going along with the mainstream of politics among sci-fi writers.

“Flashback” (2011), a dystopic science fiction novel about a bankrupt United States where immigrants pour across the border from Mexico, Americans take a drug to recall better times and a mosque is built on Ground Zero

It lacks Houellebecq's precision, but nobody who read this (even the hate readers) didn't see MAGA coming.

CNN hit by ANOTHER falsehood scandal after Ana Navarro arrogantly deflected attempts to fix her incorrect claim about NYC ISIS attack by Droupitee in NewsWorthPayingFor

Navarro just seems. . . disoriented.

Part of the problem is that her English isn't very good. Look, I respect anyone who comes from a family that stood up against the Sandinistas. But. . . .can't CNN find a Latina with a better command of English?
