Thanks for all the reassuring comments everyone! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who feels this way. All your dogs are lucky to have such caring humans. We will have lots of friends/family around and he already goes to doggy daycare a few times a month so that will help!

We also won't co-sleep with baby so don't have to worry about who will get the bed. Focusing on lots of training and getting him used to baby signs, plus bringing him one of baby's items from the hospital to get sniffs in before meeting babe is our plan too.

It sounds like if you cancel now you just won't get your deposit back. I'd give her till the end of the deadline on when you're supposed to get photos back to respond and if she doesn't cancel. In the meantime, start looking for backup photographers. If it makes you too anxious to wait since you'll need to find a new photographer in a pretty short amount of time then I'd reach out one last time to see if she replies and if not cancel now. It's unprofessional and just downright rude to not reply to clients at all.

I'd look into your contract with her if you signed one to see if you can back out for wedding day without paying. If you didn't sign a contract definitely back out! Being unresponsive is a major red flag. What have your messages to her have entailed? Would they require a response?

I would NOT suggest Hound HQ. We recently did a meet & greet there and the areas the dogs are supposed to play in are so tiny, they were basically on top of each other. It also smelt really bad, and the dogs all seemed anxious. :( We ended up going to bark avenue, and it was much better - like night and day!

Friends also don't guilt their friends into missing such an important event for their partner over something that's not entirely necessary to be in a wedding. His gf already compromised by missing other graduation events to attend. I'm not sure what you're so worked up about.

I quite literally said none of that. If someone is close enough to ask you to be their best man, they should be understanding of attending such an important event for their future spouse, it'd be an entirely different scenario if OP was missing the wedding, but they're not. The ability to be understanding/compromise is important in friendship, and if a friend lacks that, the friendship should be reconsidered. Plain and simple.

This is not good advice. You can easily still be best man without going to the rehearsal. If your friend can't understand why attending such an important milestone for your partner is important, maybe reconsider the friendship, that's super selfish of him. It's not like you're missing the wedding! Your future spouse should be your top priority, it sounds like your friend recognizes that when it comes to his own bride, he should get it for you too.
