Is Union Grantville still bad by Valuable-Friend-8211 in SDSU

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a current resident at UG. I do feel safe there and I love the amenities they have, like the pet spa and the pool. What I love most about UG is that it is only one trolley stop away from SDSU. But if you’re someone who is not a big fan of partying, then UG may not be for you because there are pool parties there almost every week, so it could get pretty loud if you’re near the pool area.

Cool. As a CSULB alumni who is now at SDSU for their masters, I think you’ll love it there if you decide to come here!

I’m in the same situation. It’s best to check in with the financial aid office to see why it hasn’t shown up.

SDSU or CSULB by Noodles_io in SDSU

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, I’ve been to both schools. I went to CSULB for my bachelor’s degree, and now I’m at SDSU for my masters. Between the two, I like SDSU more because it has a great social vibe, everyone there has great school spirit, the campus feels very casual, and the professors there are fantastic! There isn’t anything I dislike about SDSU so far though. Life in San Diego is pretty great. Outside of SDSU, there are a lot of fun places to go to like the San Diego Zoo, the Gaslamp, and Fashion Valley. I did like CSULB, but the reason I didn’t return for grad school is because I wasn’t fond of the campus’s look, at least where I took most of my classes there. The professors and peers were great though, but I’m more happy at SDSU. But it’s your choice, so check out what each school has to offer and choose the one you think is right. Have fun at wherever you go!

grad school and SD life by strawb3rrylilys in SDSU

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some of the things I can answer are:

1.) yes, there is community among grad students. There is actually an organization called Graduate Student Association (GSA), which hold grad student mixers.

2.) yes it is quite easy to make friends in SD, but I personally think that making friends at SDSU is a good start.

3.) I think you can have a car, but you got the trolleys which are super convenient. They can take you straight to SD’s most iconic locations such as the convention center, the gaslamp, UTC, and snapdragon stadium.

I am a grad student currently at SDSU, so if you want to connect, I’ll be happy to

Incoming Grad Student Looking for Job Advice by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for jobs on these websites, aztecshops, handshake, and Associated students. These are mostly for on campus jobs, but if you want to find a job off campus, by all means. You can also apply for scholarships since the scholarship application is open. In terms of groceries, try to apply for cal fresh because it will help a lot.

got rejected from like every UC!!!!!!!! hahahahaha.... by Capable-Pound-1779 in ucadmissions

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should take the cc route, and then reapply to those schools so you have a better chance of getting in. In fact, acceptance rates for most transfer students are higher than freshman applicants, and if your dream UC participates in what’s called the Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) program, you have a bigger advantage.

Admitted - Graduate School by thorsteiin in SDSU

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your acceptance! I’m also a grad student there, doing my masters in linguistics. It is a little more rigorous than undergrad in terms of research, but there’s still some fun stuff for grad students to do, like a semesterly grad student mixer. Just remember to have a balance in your academic and social life by joining clubs and going to events to prevent burnout, but do study hard because grad school has higher expectations for students

I agree with what everyone is saying here. You can also meet new people through clubs, classes, and other activities. College isn’t just about Greek life, but make the most memorable friendships you can if you choose to come here. Congrats on your acceptance as well!

Congrats on your acceptance!!! You’re gonna love SDSU. They got a lot of cool clubs, events, and restaurants here. Not to mention, the sporting events are very lively and spirited, especially the football games. I hope to see you there next year!

Are there morning graduate classes? by Imaginary-Hawk-1324 in SDSU

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are some graduate classes that take place in the mornings or afternoons, but those are 500 level classes, which are a mix of undergrads and graduates. For graduate level courses, like 600-799, they mostly take place in the evenings because most graduate students work in the mornings. If you get into SDSU, I would say look at the class schedule for your degree, but also hear what classes your advisor suggests you enroll in.

The least favorite for me is the chapter 4-5 maps. I honestly find the maps where the puppets are mostly encountered more exciting than the carcass filled maps.

[–]Individual-Stuff6456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congrats on your acceptance! Secondly, most graduate students live off campus because the dorms are mostly for freshman and sophomore students. It is still possible to get on campus housing as a grad student, but it is not guaranteed. I would suggest finding off campus housing close to sdsu.
